after installing freelancer it comes up with a box that says "create multiplayer account" but only the first time its run, u should type in your old number in that,, you did keep a note of it, didnt you?

Ok, similar situation, but slightly different. PLEASE TRY NOT TO LAUGH.

My OS, 98SE, locked up on me. I had to format the hard drive (after about 6 hours of screaming, yelling, pleading, banging, and begging). I got the PC itself setup properly, and went to install my favorite addiction - Freelancer.

Since I had never had a problem with either the game or the PC like this, I never bothered to write my MP Account ID down on paper (DOH!), so I lost everything on all the servers I have ever played on. (Again - DOH!). I accepted that.

It gets worse...

The game does not have a MP ID on the Disc, and I cannot connect to the Global Server.

Anyone know how to make a MP ACCT ID?

Please help, I am JONESIN so badly right now.

Justinian

*** EDIT ***

I played the first mission in the SP Campaign, and that generated a MP Account ID. We will see if it is new, or if it is the same as I had before. Either way - WRITE THAT ACCOUNT NUMBER DOWN!!!

Victory, a true victory is not merely crushing your enemy, pounding it into submission. No, my friend, true victory comes after the battle, when your enemy is convinced that they were wrong to oppose you in the first place.

Yeah, the MP ID is not on the disk, it is created each time you install freelancer. It is based on your hardware and I think some setting in your OS, but in any case if you reinstall Freelancer, when it installs it will prompt for your MP ID. At that point you can leave it at the default generated one or manually type one in. So if you wrote down your old ID, then reinstall Freelancer, you can put in the old MP ID when it prompts for it. I'm pretty sure that there is also a way to manually change it after FL is installed by editing some .ini file, but I've never done it myself so I don't know how.

On another note: Justinian, get your FL going so we can play again on Browclopsia dude! If your characters are gone and you need some cash to start new ones, let me know and I can hook you up.

Justinian, if you are still having the problem with "connecting to Global server. . .", then check thread "Need help connecting to the GS" here in the Multiplayer forum.

ok guys, im having a similar prob. Now that I have reinstalled FL several times I cannot seem to create any new characters on any servers. This all started when I downloaded rebalace 3.12. Mp Id stayed the same, all saved characters are gone and I cannot create new char anywhere. This problem is killing me now that the game has been renewed with this mod. Actually if the mods werent around FL would be on my shelf. Has anyone heard of this, and can anyone help. my e-mail is [email protected]. PLEASE HELP

And just to help the rest of u if u really want to play there is one way that allways works. Wipe out HD and reload windows. then reload FL. This allways works and if u dont want to lose certain files save on disc or floppy first but load last.

There is a very easy way to change your MP ID back to what it previously was , provided you wrote it down of course

1. get your new -undesired- ID

2. start Regedit

3. search for your undesired ID

4. edit the undesired ID (change 2 numbers in it)

5. close regedit

6. start FL mulitplayer , it will pop up your chnaged ID telling you it is invalid and give you a chance to change it

7. change it to the ID you actually wanted , and off you go

Time is too short to hate everybody , just hate a few
