first off, dont join Elite even if you could. it is shutting down in a month?? also excelcia is good, go to there website at www.excelcia.com and get the mod and password and play!

#1: Do NOT play MP until you have finished the storyline.

#2. Do NOT join servers with mods until you know what you are doing.
(Going on an unmodded server later will get you BANNED! unless mod is removed.)

#3. Start off 1st time with the lowest Ping (lag) non-PvP server. (no skull thingy)

#4. DON'T run any mods or cheat. Record your ID number (in startup menu).

If you're looking to get into a passworded server, look in the forums for the host that's advertising, and post or e-mail your request.

There's no right or wrong server, just think about what your playstyle is and select accordingly. Also, it helps to look in the multiplayer and server forums to see what others say about this server or that.

I would suggest my server for starters, but you can look at the Freelancer Heaven topic in this forum and the server one for details on what type of mods I run. That more than anything will determine what servers you can or can't play on.

Does everyone start out at level 0 when beginning very first multiplayer game?

I like freelancer heaven, but my main server is Sir Warwick's. Im also the leader of [FU, a clanish-thing that is pretty newb to MP friendly. We all play on Sir Warwicks, and we all are glad to help new people (provided we arnt busy)
