Won't the id utility that comes with Freelancer give you your key?

in the \Freelancer\EXE folder is a file called "myflaccountid.hta" run it, this should show you your acount number

the internet key is acutally exactly the same each time you install the game...but i prefer to print it off just incase.

Yeah that thing wont work. I printed it out when i first got the game, seeing as they said it was important. I just have to look through my room which i havnt cleaned in a good year or two (desks should be self-cleaning)

maybe its down........maybe something is blocking your ports..........

Post Sat Oct 11, 2003 11:52 am

GS = Global Server.

It's not down. If it was there would be a major post about it.

I don't think anything is blocking my ports...otherwise i wouldnt be able to play my other games. But thanks for the suggestions. I'll check on that port thing.

Anyone else?

This is my 3 cents worth (inflation and all that ) but I'm thinking DirectX! Please follow this. You changed your video card. One of the important and oft-complained issues with FL is video related problems usually traced to DirectX. Part of the DirectX package is DirectPlay which is needed for MP. If it was ports being blocked or redirected, some other program would have to be making use of them. Plus it would have to be low level and for the system, i.e. low level in that you don't "see" a program running (usually running as a service or lower still) and loaded by the system at start up. In other words it would be hard to find. Try reinstalling DirectX v9.0b, the latest.

Other games may work with earlier versions of DirectX or those games may not be using DirectPlay (hence that part of DirectX). Might explain why they work and FL doesn't.

I had a similar problem but it was due to my software firewall, Zonealarm. It wasn't "trained" to allow FL to work and hence blocked all the ports initiated by FL in BOTH directions.

My ports arnt blocked. DirectX9.0b is workining fine. I play woflentstein ET which is basiclly like freelancer internet wise. It's not blocking any ports. I havnt changed a thing really since i last played freelancer online. the card shouldnt have anything to do with it.

I don't see the connection with video cards and internet.

Except for maybe seeing the internet. But if you can't see the internet that means you don't have a monitor.

But did you try reinstalling directx? If you changed your video card, I'm guessing you also had to install/reinstall directx at that time. If you did, then it may have been a corrupt install. If you didn't, then you need to.

Go here and download the installer, and then reinstall direct x:
