Bobway's Lab server is alive and well. It is now known as Bobway's Mod server and running Victor's Amazing MOD.

uhh, what does this mod do?

anyway, thanks for the help. ill check back in a few. i noticed that server earlier today but was told by players that is was a seperate server. thanks.

had a look at it voucher
it cant be the same server as there are too many high level players for the timescale ie since the other one dissappeared
seems to only go to l38 though
i wont be trying it as it says you need to install the 1.1 patch
which isnt going anywhere near my machine

1.1 patch that bad? I was considering IONCROSS mod to join their server, but
a tiny voice in my head balked at the 1.1 requirement.

actually, its very possible to go from level 1 to 40 in three hours. just ask Corwin02. he does it every time he plays. anyway, the 1.1 patch isnt that bad. just make sure you finish the sp campaign first. i have it installed, and even though i had to replay the sp campaign (which i didnt mind because it was so good) i have had no other problems. i see no reason why it couldnt be a replacement server. however, not too many players can get to level 38 in such a short time, so i agree it is a little suspicious. hmm, guess id better keep an eye out. thanks

You actually don't need the patch unless you plan to run a server, with or without the MOD.

Victor's MOD is a rebalanced version of the game that gives you access to almost anything in the original game. IE Large transports, battleships, champion shields etc.

Commodities prices have been changed and your ability to trade is affected by your reputation.

If you want to be challenged give it a try.

@voucher iknow how quickly you can get to a high level but most dont do it that way and over half the players were l38 no higher ?
even on the most established servers there are normally more low level players than that ,as a percentage
but on a server a few days old i would have expected a higher proportion of lower levels

hmm, thats true. however, the server has probably been up a few days. the people who play there seemed like the type who would play for several hours a day. it is odd, though, that there are so many higher ups. still, missions are worth a lot more. i took 2 missions and got to level 3 by 20 minutes. the first 5 of those minutes i spent talking, so its not as hard to level up as in regular freelancer. Corwin02 played for 2 hours w/no little to no trading and was still levl 18+ when i logged on. so it seems possible.

btw is the paralyser for sale on that server ? its fun !
(still think its a different server )

well, i downloaded it anyway, and so far its not that bad. i havent played enough to see many changes, but it looks good
