NEED HELP - can''t get on servers
OK, first off, my specs:
-Windows XP
-Ahtlon XP 1800
-512MB DDR PC2100 RAM
-ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB 8xAGP video card (one week old)
-Internet connection thru my university.
Now the problem:
I can play the single player version of Freelancer w/out any problems. When I enter the multiplayer section, I select Internet Games and I get a large list of servers. I can see the ping, number of people online, all the usual stats. I highlight any one server and click connect. *****As soon as i hit the connect button, the window minimizes, and I have to sit for about 30 seconds and look at my desktop w/out a mouse cursor. THen, after about 30 seconds, I get a msg saying that Freelancer has crashed. In the task manager, the executable file is still in the processes log, but I cannot end it manually. After about five more minutes, my coputer will usually restart itself w/out warning.
Furthermore, I have at least 4 other people on my dorm floor who are running the same program w/ similar systems and the exact same Internet connection. Only one of them had a problem like this, and his just started working one day. In addition, we have reinstalled DirectX 9.0, my video drivers, and the entire Freelancer game (multiple times each). We also reset the Internet connection on my machine.
If anyone can help me out, or think of something that the five of us haven't thought of, PLEASE POST IT!! Thanks
