multi player characters

I have a problem. I am trying to play multiplayer but my characters wont save between games. I had installed the 1.1 patch ( to apparently make things better) but the version says it is still 1.0. To compound this trying to re-install the patch it tells me that i am using version 1.1. Could this be the cause of the problem, or is it something more basic?

1. the patch is for the Server Only, unless you have a problem with viewing servers. Also it doesnt change the version number, DA didnt think that far ahead.
2. your characters are saved on the Server NOT your PC.
3. If you join a new server, you start from level 1 again with 2000k in a Star Flier

I am now aware of my mistake...managed to find the server with my half decent char again. Thx for the assist.
