mp issues...need help desperately

okay here it goes:

I have linked two computers using 2 surecom ethernet adapter's 100mb sec, one in each pc.

I want to play freelancer multiplayer just using the ethernet adapters, i have created an FLServer on one computer and are also connecting to that server using the same computer. When i get a list of local games, the server i have created appears and when i click connect, it says something like "i am sorry, you are unable to connect to this server, blah blah blah" it says the same thing when the second computer tries to connect to the first computers server. Any help would be greately appreciated.

I have to assume you go through a router , open up the ports on the router to allow the server to connect , it is documented in a file in the freelancer directory

i dont know how to do that. I dont know much about routers and stuff like that, all i know is that i have to surecom ethernet adapters, one in each pc, and they are connected via cat 5 cable. And setup using the "microsoft setup a home or small office network" thingo.

I need specifics, or detail to be able to do something. Thanx
