Switching computers for multiplayer? ID?? HOW?!?

I want to play multiplayer on another computer of mine with all my same stuff... how do i do that? Is everything saved on the server and i just need to transfer the ID? or is there files that i need to move over as well? Any help is appreciated.

Let me start by saying there is no 'file' that you can simply copy. However I'll just tell you what I did.

Firstly, select "Examine my account ID" in the Start Menu. Here, it'll show your ID number...you can write it down, but best to print it.

After you install it on your new computer, when you first go online it should display a new ID but with a blinking cursor at the end (well it did with me). Now delete that number and enter the number you printed or wrote down. Double check...triple check if necessary, just make sure that long number is copied EXACTLY or else it won't work.

BTW, that's how it worked for me, but I don't know if it'll work the same for you though. But it's worth a shot, I guess...unless someone has a better idea.

If for one reason or the other you can not enter you ID it is fairly simple to add it anyway

just follow the instructions in the previous post (print/write down/whatever)

use regedit and find the key . change 2 characters in it

start game ,

it will say invalid key detected and give you a chance to enter the key ofyour liking

I presume you just wish to transfer your account to another pc and still keep your characters on the various servers. here's how on old pc
go to start/run
type "regedit" (without quotes)
hit enter
navigate to HKEY/CUURENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MicrosoftGames/Freelancer/1.0

go to menu/file export key and save it on a floppy as blah.reg name doesnt matter,
Put the floppy in the new/other computer and double click the file. thats it you other comp is set up with your account, if you are transfering from XP to win9x you have to edit the file slightly in notepad. if thats the case post and ill tell you how. you then have a floppy you can use to play your FL mp account on all your pc's.
