Starflier races were pretty fun. Check out Brows announcement here. Starflier Race Summary by Browclops That was a fun race. We flew Starfliers to Primus, with zero credits and only 3 nanos and 3 shield batts. A couple of players in starfliers actually made it all the way to Primus and docked.

Here is an idea for a starflier race that I havn't tried yet. Brand new starfliers with zero credits on them race to TAU 37 and mine 20 Niobium, then bring it back to Manhattan. It sounds kinda tough, but it might be feasible.

relay race pick a route 4 players to a team say ny to rhineland to bretonia back to ny = 1 lap
mass melee everyone in starfliers at manhattan last man standing wins

Ah, I like the idea of players winning something other than credits. Maybe if the winner received a ripper mine, or Diamondbacks. Any kind of wreck item would be good.

2. Fireworks
Every group may represent by picture best snapshot of what power they have. The most beautiful picture wins. eg: circle of ships firing DBacks at center one stand elsewhere and capture the moment.

Formation of Doom Event:

Absolutely EVERY human player in the entire server groups into one group and forms up on the highest level player. If there is no highest level, the players with the highest same levels will duke it out DM style. The winner becomes formation top-level-leader. up to three players grouped on each person, e.g.
Everyone would form up on the nearest available person with the closest higher level number, eg. if you are level 2, look for level 3's, if no level 3's, look for 4's, etc. Freighters may not be able to do this event unless they are Dromedaries...

Only problem: jump gates would destroy formation, so the event would have to stay in one system, i recommend Omicron Alpha or Gamma.

If nothing else, this event might be interesting if it were all starfliers formed together.

That sounds strange. How would that help kill tons of AI butt? It is really hard to aim if you are in formation.

That kind of formation would suit a bunch of freighters, 1 pilots the group, the rest stay in turret mode.

If they aren't in a asteroid field and the pilot paces back and forth in straight lines, then that might work.

I did a contest on Tuesday that had lots of success: nomad hunting, and the weapons you collected from them were a way of keeping score. basically, you have to capture as many nomad weapons that you can. The winner had a choice of any ship, weapon loadout, faction, and starting point. I'll be throwing another contest this Saturday for those who couldn't stay up late enough. Freelancer Heaven is my server.

A good race would be to go around the systems and get a picture of certain objects.

eg.

Start at Manhattan.

Get pictures of:

One wreck
Two bars with Interspace Commerce personnel in them.
One explosion.
etc.

The photograph ships report back to Manhattan once they have the required screenshots. They'd then have to send them to the race administrator at his e-mail adress within an hour. The winner could gain anything, really. The ship used would have to be:

Startracker LF
(Only for protection against pirate attacks)
Sconce Shield
Loadout of choice
5x bots+bats

Low level pilots only. That way they would actually use the prize(s),

I think perhaps a good event would be to new players, starfliers, give each say 100k, and then give them a set amount of time to get whatever ships they want and whatever weps, and then get all the players to meet somewhere, perhaps back at manhatten, and let them have duels and see who wins. The one who has used his time most efficiantly would probably win, since he would have the better ship/ equiptment. However there would definantly be a few exceptions .
