I have never ever ever use torpedos. I do use the cruise disruptor, mostly for fleeing mission objectives. Yeah, I still play missions.

Traditional newb mistake #1: Buying a titan
Traditional Newb mistake #2: Flying the titan to New york to impress the newbs without properly equipping it
Traditional newb mistake #3: Feeling secure in underequipped Titan, challenging a well equipped saber or eagle to a duel and getting embarassed by dieing in 3.03 seconds.
Traditional newb mistake #4: Running out of cash because of no attempt to make money at crete/malta before flying to NY. This is followed by a realization that all AI in NY hates you and you dont have money to buy your rep up with them.
Traditional newb mistake #5: Feeling secure in titan, challenging a drake to a duel, and getting splattered by a well placed ripper mine
Traditional newb mistake #6: Torpedos are for killing battleships. There are none (killable) in MP, so why do you have one equippe....BOOM
Traditional newb mistake #7: "I rule in SP, so when i get my eagle/titan/saber you are all dead".
Traditional newb mistake #8: feeling strong in Titan, picking on that weak starflier that's level 40, equipped with rippers and sports a well-known clan tag.
Traditional newb mistake #9: "What is engine kill all about anyway?" (if you dont use this, you are going to lose alot of duels)
Traditional newb mistake #10: talking smack before you have a good rep, know who the major players are, and/or are beyond the need of goodwill.

That's my top ten list. I see these things probably 20 times a day. It doesn't take long to get the dream machine of choice, so i feel it's the newbishness for the first 2 weeks after getting it that is the biggest problem.

I had to chuckle on that one. Good Job.

I have a ok rep, basically the only bum factions that hate me (Saying in the red hostile) are the Red Hessians, LWB, and the Bundscuh. I haven't been to Britonia yet, but I'm sure it's going to be bad.

Oh, Gung_Ho, you forgot Newb rule #11:
Traditional Newb Mistake #11: Newb attacks a member of a mass clan, such as TE on Calgary....whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

You must remember that the 'hot cheat' right now is money hack.

$100k for a noob is plenty, if you need more then spread the loans
out over a few days. Blame the cheaters, not the admins.

These are interesting tips but I have a question...

I bought a criminal ship and returned to liberty space with a load of drugs. I bought my reputation with polie/liberty /security etc back to friendly.

Now they are all in the green with me.

But as SOON as I approach Plan Manhattan I get within about 1.5M of the docking ring, the entire system turns red on me and starts shooting. In the mean time they are still friendly on my reputation bar. But the docking ring, the stations, the police, the other trade ships, etc. all open fire. So of course I can't dock with anything while it is hostile - and have to retreat.

Why the heck is that?

Some corporate ship that you are enemies with came into the area.

There's a money hack/cheat? Hell i cant even do uber, but money would help me alot.

Anyway i have a tip for noobs.

If you dont feel like doing missions or getting into any fights, trade water. From manhatten to pittsburg is a fast, good run. Buy water at manhatten for 15 credits. Sell it at pittsburg for 30. do this till you can afford a rhino. Then do the water run again a couple mmore times till you feel you can trade vast distances.

Oh also when you start out in multiplayer. Dont waste your money on better weapons. The key to staying alive is mostly energy useage. More energy you use, less you can shoot. So buy another justice mk1 if you feel the need for a 3rd gun. And upgrade your shields. to max if you can afford it. If you cant, ohwell just start running when rouges come if you dont feel like fighting. If you feel like fighting anything that comes in your way, stock up on as much nanos and shield batteries as possible. Preferribly more nanos than shields. Shields can regenerate. Hull cant.

And if you want to get neutral with everyone at least. Kill xenos, or bounty hunters. try not to go trading alone, try to hook up with a convoy. of course if one convoy is going from manhatten to colorado, you might wanna find a convoy going from ft bush to pittsburg after you get to bush.

Well there ya go, my little tip.

Just packing the water from Fort bush to pittsburg and boron back is a quicker money maker. Good for doubling your cargo when you cant afford to even buy a full load of water.

Still, I'd still go with missions as faster money makers at first - at least until you have a rhino and some cargo. And of course, wreck scavenging is even faster - assuming the nearby ones haven't been hit up yet.

gung water is 20 at bush but 15 at manhatten. And boron sells more at manhatten. Besides its not like the junkers or rouges will kill you.

Someone answer me why the bloodhound flys crappy with any player but the AI handle it like a kite?
