I dont think cloak detecor affect it. if it does its miniscule. all they are adding is like a couple of lines to something in the game.


Oh and like someone has said before, dont bash on people just because it doesnt coordinate with the way you play. I have the right to mod like you all have the right to take a piss.

I did my own tests with FLServer 1.0 and found that even a simple money cheat caused an extra 4ms lag to all players on a server. Cloaking mods add about 8msec as the system doesn't know how to calculate it right and display it. In same cases it can even take down the server. So much for Harmless ehh.

Weapons that shoot farther than the game expects cause lag in multiple ways. 1) the game has to now render all ships and units in the area the gun fires through. 2) Data has to be sent to an increased number of players that a shot went by at a certain trajectory. 3) Larger packet sizes are sent that may be the cause of some of the memory leaks as the game was designed for packets of a certain size. In worst case scenarios these can cause buffer overruns that can take down the whole server, not just that app.

Does that mean that the lost revenue and pain caused to the owner of the store was any worse? Does that mean that he was like, well at least the person didn't come in and point a gun at me. Does that mean that the owner of the store should just let anyone who wants to just come in and steal a couple little low cost things here and there?

NO. Just because you aren't "As bad" does not make you "any better" or "right". You still cause problems for our servers. You still fight the bad fight. You still have a warped view or reality.

Now, consider that you haven't just stolen one candy bar, you stole the whole shelf over time. Not to mention you broke the cash register a few dozen times so other people couldn't buy candy bars. You helped cause enough problems to where some of the store owners have had to lock the doors and stop new people from even coming in to try thier products, because while you were in the store you kept yelling fire and causing everyone else to be kicked out of the store until the owner shut it down, checked things out and re-opened it again, only to have to come in and keep yelling fire each and ever time.

No, your not as bad, but you are persistant and do enough little damage over time that you are probably worse in the long run.

yes but it's not exclusively your game, when you modd you are using up server resources that are meant to be shared by every one there, so for you to get what you want, everyone else has to live with substandard performance.

Anyway, the server is providing space for gamers to use. Now if a server has crappy space, it aint my fault. If he didnt want modders on there, or even cared for that fact, he would do something. There are worse modders than me on calgary taking up more server space than i ever could. You know this is true as well as i. People making weird shaped planet things as ships. People going into bush. Yes thats modding, tho it might not seem like it, its a form of modding.

I'd bet you everyone in here can go into any station (surprisingly i cant). Thats modding. You not suppose to go into the damn station.

Lets stop this argument. Its easy to see that moronic, pathetic modders like Heretic will never get it thru their tiny brains that they aree making the servers a horrible place for everyone. Us nonmodders can post all the facts we want, but ppl like him will never understand what they are doing. They hide behind pathetic excusues like "we are spicing up the game" or I have no skills so i need to mod to play". All of the modders are incorridgible. They cannot be persuaded to give up their lame ways, and as such, the only thing we can do is report their presence to the admin of the server to have them banned.

I realize what i do. But in spite of all that i paly anyway. I bought the game for MY enjoyment. While i regret making the game worse for others i dont regret using mods. Its not that i dont have skill, its just im incredibly bored. Look at it, all good modders are people with piloting skills who are bored to death of starting over, spending 30 minutes in the game. Getting a titan. Starting all over again. I play mods like rebalance and such, which makes the game harder, regularly.


Why can't you get it through YOUR tiny little brain that this issues is much like the Abortion issues. It wont be resolved because the sides are even and there are good points being brought up all over the place. Besides if our mods slow the server down, its not our fault, if the admin cares so much, either he can ban us, but more will pop up, or he can find a way to make the server better and faster with mods.

Modding on your own servers, or other servers designated for modding is fine. In fact, it's a good idea.

Modding on other people's servers where they don't want modding , is a bad thing. It's like going into a restaurant with no smoking allowed. You're not going to smoke in that restaurant, so why mod on servers with no modding allowed?
(I'm not sure if Calgary 24/7 has a notice saying "no modding" or not, though.)

we would mod on our own servers IF some of the mods would work on our own servers. Cloak mod is ineffective on it. And plus most "designated" mod servers have big mods like fladdon or TNG and stuff. Which disables us from using the mods we want. -there are no modding servers besides ac2 that i know of without a huge mod.
