Problem connecting to ANY server

Lo, when I try to connect to a multiplayer server, any server, the game crashes almost instantly and returns to windows. Anyone have this problem, and if so, how to fix it? My single player works fine, and I have two internet connections. The FAQ says that I have to 'deactivate' one, however the technical support on the MS site says nothing about deactivating one. To boot, I only have one of the connections working at a time, so I dont see how this can be a problem... Oh and I cant even connect onto a server that Ive created myself... And sometimes I get a 'the operation is taking longer than expected' message, before it returns to windows.

Oh **** it. Microsoft support is 100% useless. I've tried pretty much everything. Only thing left is format. If by saturday no1 has any ideas to fix my problem, F0rm4t p0w3r

hmm formatting is a bit drastic yet mate, first when you say 2 connections do you mean 2 isp,s or a multiple device like isdn or when you hook 2 modems together to hype up your connection. also are you running any kind of network, what os are you using, are you using ics, supply a bit more info and you may get it going without formatting. sounds also like a firewall prob have you configured any firewall to allow connection to the nessacary ports that freelancer uses?.

Hehe. Well, I've got two seperate connections: cable and adsl. The two are never working at the same time. I use the adsl only when my cable is unstable. I've got win2k, with all the latest updates, and no firewalls that I can think of (at least I havent activated any).
