Getting online

Hello there, hope this is the right forum.

i have a original version, and am trying to get online, and that does not work at all.
Setup is a Xp machine behind a router, and i 've read that i need to open port UDP port 2300 till 2400. Still no servers show up.
I know i can put after the " in my Icon on the desktop a line with this :
-s XXX.XXX.XX.XX:XXXX for a server with the port. I should choose for LAN game and see the server. Still i see no server at the LAN screen.

Matbe i do something wrong, i even tried to DMZ my PC, but also no result.
Is there somewhere an INI file that i can modify with a server IP ?

Or another way to get online ?

Roberto

I have the exact same problem. I've tried everything. I have opened the ports on both my firewall and the router, I've tried DMZ as well as switching teh firewall off. I can't get off the router though... anyone have any solution? I couldn't find anything on the net about this...

I've checked but they say it should be working... the ports are open everywhere. It says connected to global server but nothing shows up except my own server...

Same here. This is the first game that has this trouble, all other games are online without a glitch....

hi,
Look at below, I found that somewhere in the Net. I did it the same, but to play Multiplayer I had to change this solution a bit. I extracted everything from DirectPlay 8.2 Redist folder to c:\windows\system and after that I started to install all "inf" files connected with DirectPlay, e.g. dplay.inf, dplay8.inf etc...
After that I could access the global servers in Multiplayer.

That's all. Hope it helps..

"I had all the problems everyone else has w/ Freelancer
Multiplayer starting to slide the screen over and crashing
to desktop, or the "connecting to global server" and then
it hangs in WinME... not to mention it won't even run in XP
for me. Here's what I did to solve it...

When Freelancer crashes and wants to send a report to MS it
includes 2 files: DXDiag.txt & FLSpew.txt. After looking
at the FLSpew.txt, I determined the problem is NOT w/
Freelancer, rather the problem IS w/ DirectX 9.
Specifically the DPNHUPNP.DLL file. Which I presumed to be
a DirectPlay file, so what I did was extract the
dpnhupnp.dll from the DirectPlay 8.2 update redist, (which
is located in the DirectX.cab file in the Redist folder) to
my X:\Windows\System folder, and I said yes to overwriting
the newer existing dpnhupnp.dll.

Worked like a charm,I can now play Multiplayer Freelancer!!

You WILL get a complaint from DXDiag that the file is an
older version and could cause problems,(it SHOULD say,
could SOLVE problems)and you should re-install directX to
get the latest version, SCREW THAT!

So, in closing if you are having probs playing Multiplayer
Freelancer, and DirectX9.0a isn't fixing it either, well,
hey...need I say this??? TRY MY FIX, it just might work for
you too... Good Luck!
