Easy my old mucker.. Now then.. Hate to disagree with you and Xixor.

Bottom line for me...

This Service amounts to a database, some of which contains responses to questions that some players have taken a lot of time and effort to compile in answer to those that don't/didn't know.

This service also contains a search facility, which i grant has many uses. But i bet this is one of the main uses.

If you can't be arsed searching for those answers already posted, why should anyone be arsed helping you (again).

I agree there does seem to be alot of abuse directed at 'noobs' on this forum, which is pretty funny considering that alot of the regular posters here are (compared to the mods/'old hands' are noobs themselves.

However there is a fine line. It does seem quite funny when people post things like 'I've found the hispania - screen shots here!!!' (usually in all caps) it would seem like common sense to search for things like that. Also things like 'Where is xxxxx' are quite common. Personally i see no need to flame people posting such things, if you're gonna reply to flame them you may aswell answer their question, you can hardly claim to not have known what they were asking when you clicked.

As you will have probably noticed from the answers to your post, not everyone is out to flame. Like you say it is rude to flame a noob (poetry in motion), but i think it is unfair to say all FL players/forum goers are intolerant. You will find it hard to find a post that has nothing but flames in it. Someone will always come to the rescue and answer the OP. This thread is less than 50% flames and it was quite aggressive to start with

One thing that does bug me tho is people goin mental at 'What is the best ship/weapon/shield' posts. Obviously these have been posted many times before and so people get angry. What they forget tho is that there are loads of people joining TLR every day, even now months after release. These people have just as much right to say which ship they think is the best as someone who has been here since SL was a twinkle in the milkmans eye. Even for people who have been posting for ages change their minds. Early on a 'best ship' post would have have consisted of :

I love the eagle it is sweet.

I love the sabre it is harder than the eagle.

I love the titan it kicks everyones ass.

As people played the game more and more heavy fighters started making the best ship lists and now light fighters. Not to mention the mass of modded ships now available. Obviously these things shouldnt be getting posted every day, that is stupid but its not fair to flame people if it hasnt been posted in a while - new memebers are entitled to their opinions. Same for weapons/sheilds.

As for the intolerance on MP. Live with it. As other people have said it is human nature. There will always be people who for whatever reason feel the need to pick on people weaker than them. It happens in any MP game where you can level up. Just persevere and you'll eventually be hard enough to deck them. Unless they're in a clan in which case you'll have to live with it. But thats just like real life too

I found a server without that PvP symbol, so noone should be able to kill me . the computer ships are hard enough for me to kill without worring about the other players. avoid a server if you get a lot of lag. there is no cure. find a servr with a low number of players( like one or two) they will probably help to get you to stay on their server?

Its just the degrading fact that 75% of the people who play this game are all 13-15 years old. No amtter how nice they are probably in person, their probably assholes online.

lol.. Im an asshole online, but I hear from my friends that Im a nice guy.. so I'll just say, their ass's, but dont judge them (they deserve to be judged sometimes though)

I've been on a good 5 servers after recently buying the game, including Elite. I must say Freelancer gamers are the most generous i've ever seen. I've come to know a player who gave me 100,000credits just because he enjoyed helping people out and was a nice person in general. I havn't actually yet seen an intolerant FLer, but then again i've only had it for a week or so.

When I first got the game I found these boards, read them for a while, read about the Argonus server with its' protective, {AR} clan and joined that server. Sitting in NY I typed in the chat window, "newbie needs help". Argonus himself answered my call and members of the {AR} clan spotted me enough cash to purchase a freighter and fill it up. Then, three or four {AR} guys escorted me on a very profitable round trip trade run and wouldn't accept ANY payment afterwards!! On my next visit, another {AR} guy was too busy/far away to escort me but encouraged me to strike out on my own and told me of another profitable run. (See, "n00b makes cardimine run on Argonus" post)

I've had nothing but good experiences on Argonus but lag is an issue at times. Keep the faith fellow n00b, there ARE good people and servers out there. . . . .

eternally optimistic and proud of it.

Dear friend, I/my clan are nothing like that. I would be pleased to help you if I can. I run the "Maliki's BOM clan server" and would be honored to help. As any of my clan members would be. I am the Admiral of Clan operations in the BOM clan. My MSN email is: [email protected]
Please contact me anytime you help with Freelancer. If I can help I will and if I don't know I will find out for you. I love Newbies. They bring another point of view to the game for me. They may of seen something in the game that I have over-looked or not seen.

Not all people hate newbies. And after all we all are newbies when we first get the game. And to all you people out there whom "brow bust" newbies. Remember you were one at one time and somebody helped you get where you are today.
