Upgrading Weapons Advice

I currently fly an eagle after getting rid of my sabre and titan to opt for a better ship in PVP combat due to some punk in an eagle blowing me up in his eagle, but i was wondering what the best turret was available for my ship as I have a kraken 1 turret but us there an upgraded version of it avilable or is there a better turret out there?

Also is there a better way for a sabre to counter an eagle in PVP in multiplayer as I like that ship but when I was fighting against somebody there beat me hands down?

Thanks,

The Dark One

Dont bother with the turret on the Eagle as it cant fire forward. So you have that bit of extra power to waste on unique lvl weapons.

Personally I use Wildfires as they have a nice balance against the power they require. Diamondbacks etc are good but require too much power and that can make the difference in PvP i find, when your struggling for shield regen.

Yeah I am looking for some good weapons at level 10 and I had some until I blown out of the sky by some coward as I was trading with a fellow clan member.
When I get back from uni and start replaying I want to get lvl 10 weapons to complement my nomad cannons, how fast are the diamondbacks?

Post Wed May 21, 2003 3:11 pm

Most of the uniques have a refire rate of 2, some of the lessers have 3.03 but blasters are better than them.

Diamond's use 293 power per shot so get expensive pretty quickly when you really need the extra power for sheild regen. wildfires use 220 which I find for there shield/hull damage is acceptable, plus they seem to be easier to aim. Might be the flashy animation of the Diamondbacks thats throwing me but I dont like them.

So you recommend the wildfires compared t the diamondbacks or should I stay with 4 nomad cannons? Plus what is the best missile system and mine ( yes I have mines on my ship even though they really do squat) system that every good pilot should have?

Well you have the basics, so trial and error now. I've found my Good loadout which might not suit your fighting style.

My Eagle:
1 Tel Cid
1 Wyrm mk2 lvl9
2 Wildfires
2 Cannons
Ripper Mines

My Sabre:
1 Tel Cid
1 Wyrm mk2 lvl9
4 Cannons
Salamanca lvl9 Turret
Ripper Mines

Missles dont do much for me, find them to easy to dodge. Occasionally someone will get lucky with a well timed Torpedo but for those pilots I fight differently.

I also had a Tel Cid but sold it because of one reasona nd one reason alone....

....The animation of the weapon is **** if non-existant, I mean somehting that can drain anyones shields should be granted a good graphic not just a small blue fizzle (if that).

Also I dont know if I am alone but I like the weapons on my ship to be symetrical, so if i have a singular weapon of some sort it is usually placed on the top or the bottom of the cockpit, you want to look good when flying around.

You Need one Tel cid atleast for PvP, sometimes it comes down to stripping the shields then sowing mines to do enough hull damage that the other player will retreat or make a mistake.

Especially in the same ship eg Sabre verses Sabre both turn the same so it comes down to a bit of luck if the other player decides to play Headon chicken or if its going to be a circle fight where the mines come intoo play where missles are useless.

Do mines actually do any damage I plant the damn things but as far as I can tell the other players just miss them as I always see some mines still floating in space after the fight is over.

Also I have no missiles and instaed opt for the sunslayer torpedos for dispatching any punks who attack me, I drain their shields down to basically zero then fire a torpedo when either,

1) they do a head on charge at me

2) I am following behind them and they and running away

One blast from those babies and most people bite the dust.

4 Nomad cannons and 2 Tizona del Cid is my current loadout for my Eagle. I'm considering replacing a Tizona del Cid with a Cannonball Missile launcher but I'm still not sure - 2 Tizonas seems redundant but I like symmetrical weapons as well. I prefer the Nomad Energy Cannon for my Level 10s because they do more damage per second than ANY gun in the game, followed very closely by the Nomad Energy Blaster. Plus they use NO energy. Incidentally, the firing arc on the Eagle's turret does extend into the front hemisphere- if you go to the *extreme* right or left it will begin firing. It's not very useful, but I put a Skyblast B on there just for the hell of it. The Sunslayer Torpedo is loads of fun to fire but the launcher is difficult to get without ticking off a lot of people, and at 7000+ a pop, you'd beter have some serious creds to stay stocked. Otherwise, the Starkiller is a nice, economical way to add a little punch to your head-on runs.

Is the cannonball missile the best missile out there? I did use a missile system in the single player mode but in multiplayer i just like to get in there and blast the others to dust with guns. I feel that sunslayers more then make up for the lack of missiles as I dont use many many lauched items anyway.

Does anyone else feel the Tizona del Cid has a pathetic animation for a weapon that drains shields as much as it does. I used to go around with 4 nomad cannons, 2 wyrm mark 2 guns and a nomad turret. That was on my sabre which I liked befoe I was outmatched by another player flying an eagle now.

I fly an eagle now but I hate ships that hold usekess ports like the turret, it make me mad. You can use it out the back, but with the eagle you fly so fast that you can catch any foe and blast them from behind. I prefer it if all my guns fire forward, but I chose the eagle cause' my sabre kept getting beaten by this eagle flyer.

The Tizona Del Cid is a pulse weapon thus no tracers and nor should there be one.

Deblau,

he TDC is an exception. Every other pulse weapon in the game has a rendered projectile; the Debilitator and Stunpulse series come to mind, as just two examples.

I've never been much for the Eagle ( I'm a Hammerhead / Centurion fan myself ), but configuring one is a snap.

2x Nomad Cannon ( this is non-debatable )

For the other two level 10 slots:
2x level 10 wreck weapon
-or-
2x Nomand Cannon

For the level 9 slots:
2x TDC
-or-
1x TDC
1x Cannonball

You'll find some exceptions, of course. Pilots who truely suck may have 2x TDC plus 2x Cannonball. There are hundreds of variations. But the layout I've detailed above applies to %50 or more of all Eagles.

I got 4xNomad Blasters and 2xTDCs just so everything has the same refire and speed stats. Although I hardly do any PvP, bouncing of suns much more enjoyable

I haven´t tried those so you are prolly right,i tried the Rapiers and they too do not have tracers so i gathered it was that way with all the pulse weps in the game. IMO there should be no tracers on pulse weps.
