My first PK experience on the Browclops server:
I am flying along with a friend in two brand new Drones, with the paint still shiney on them, and still using the stock shield and the guns of our previous rhino. We had just enough money left over to buy a full load of kick-start cargo for them each. We docked on planet Denver, and filled up on a load of optronics bound for houston. In tandem, we launched.
The first guy into space (me) immediately noticed a player contact about 4 clicks off. I sent my comrade a quick message (dont launch!) and turned around and made for the dock. I thought it was probably not a big deal, but at the time I wasn't willing to take chances and it behooved me to be a little paranoid. I didn't make it though. The pirate flew up at full afterburner and hammered me to oblivion, destorying my ship, and burning up all of my bots/bats before I could make it to safety. Apon respawn, I was greeted with a "Damnit!" from my comrade, and learned that he too had died in the attack.
So here we are with about 5k credits between us, and a cargo hold so empty you could house a concert in the available space. We cried. We moaned. We cursed. Finally, we resolved to build up a starter stake through some missions, and then multiplied our money quickly with double-your-money runs of water and such, 1 tradelane in distance. (pittsburg to Fort Bush: Water forward, boron back is a good PERCENT profit run until the holds are filled, though horrible on actual profit). We moved on. We recovered. And we learned from the experience.
You know what? I want to thank that guy. He gave us one hell of a great introduction to the server! We learned to always be wary and on edge. We learned that we should always watch the player list to see which potential threats were to be found in a system. We learned to only expose one member of a group at one time, if ossible. And most of all, we learned that PKing was ok, and fun if done properly, without remorse, without guilt, and without discrimination. The game became 10 times as fun after that moment.
Once we had our eagles we hunted that Pirate down and killed him mercilessly, as he struggled to get into dock before we had him. It was a rush. Revenge too, is part of the game. And occasionally, when we are bored, we will randomly select a player of middle to high level, and hunt him down like a dog. Is this wrong? I think not. I took my licks, and the least everyone else can do is the same, before they get hot under the collar.
I am 100% with you DefaultUser. The game is too easy as it is. PKing takes the game to another level, a level where you must be wary, and trust no one. That sounds to be the kind of game I remembered wanting to buy in the first place.
