Calling All PKers

Just a shout-out to all the people out there who take the time to add a little spice to the game.

Now, I know a lot of you folks don't like the concept. The only reason I do this is because I know Freelancer so very well, and have come to the conclusion that the NPCs offer zero challenge to an even half-capable player.

Players who have finished SP are more than a match for any NPCs, that's the PKer's whole purpose. As a PKer, I strive to be that unplanned assaliant, that Trade Lane pirate you can't just fly away from. I live to pick a player at random and hunt him down over multiple systems. I love to stop a player in mistride and challenge him to a duel.

I love flying around in ships that aren't Level 10, just for the challenge. I only use guns, because missiles feel so impersonal and indirect. I engage players even when I'm outclassed...to be selective and run would ruin the fun.

I love it when I win. I love it when I lose. I don't use batts or nanos, just fight by my wits. A PKer has nothing to gain, nothing to lose. The battle is foremost.

Yes, I'm a PKer, proud to be. And I'm sure I'm not the only one.

So, user, u aint the kind that attacks starflier pilots in manhatten then camps them n kills em 20 more times, but that whole thing is a coo way of describing it, what you said.

I talk like that cuz m punked out.

That's just it. Camping would be contrary to the whole concept.

Sometimes I am a hunter and actively engage all I meet. Somtimes, I play the hunted, and avoid players. I honestly could enjoy playing the hunted if more players picked up on this style of play.

Just think of me as a loose cannon. I mean, in a game where all you have to lose is your cargo, you wonder why more people aren't so daring.

I'd be a PKer, 'cept I haven't finished SP and I'm not sure if I could actually take on another player (I haven't played multiplayer yet).

PK'ers are fine, as long as they don't pick on those they outclass (Eagle vs Starflier for example) or strike when someone is in the process of Docking.

If one wants to PK, at least have some honour about it. Issuing a challenge is the best way to go about it, but engaging someone in the open is ok too. Playing the role of Cop or Self Appointed Owner of (some)Space is ok as well, though having some kind of procedure(demand drop of contraband or payment of a fee) would seem warranted.

This is one of the great things about Freelancer, that is the option to do anything you want. Though my above statements seem to contradict my first statement in this paragraph, I would like to point out that most people, even criminals, do what they do for a reason. It is very rare that a person kills for the hell of it.

I think Dallas put it best

And res, you don't have to be a good pilot to start out as a PK. On the contrary, players are by-far the best enemies to learn from.

The way the NPCs play, you'd think everyone lets you on their tail and makes wide, slow chicken runs.

I am Outcast. I kill all that I see.

That said, after killing two players (both higher level than myself), I left them to respawn in peace. After killing a player of a considerably lower (low-twenties) level, I felt dishonored and offered my cargo. When he declined, I escorted him on a mission to make up for his loss.

PKing is completely vital to this game. Without it, there is almost no point to multiplayer.

I know that most servers don't allow PKing in Liberty, but what is the harm if two high level players duke it out there? I'm not going to take on any low-level fledgling pilots (unless they are stupid enough to open fire), and I think spawn camping is in poor taste.

My favorite PK moment was when "Ace" on I think Seattle 24/7 had killed my two newer wingmates during a shipping/escort run, and was coming for me next. We played cat and mouse through the systems, and it got to where I was waiting on Yanagi to run to the Frankurt hole, when he jumps through & shows up just as I am on cruise away from the station. I turned right around, and was docking as his Nomad lasers hit me, luckily in mid-dock sequence. We had a nice chat for a while, and unfortunately, I had to go take care of some real life business. Doing this in the Dromedary made it scary. =o)

If you are the dude that plays on the Browclops server, then I must ask if the morals and motives that you claim to have regarding PKing are accurate. The first time my friend "BlueTango" ever tried to launch from Manhattan you dockcamped him 3 times. What up with that? Are you on Browclops? Do you sway from your morals sometimes when you are bored?

You have been on my poop-list the whole time I have been on the Browclops server, but I havn't gotten around to punishing you yet. But lately since we dueled in the Tourney the other night I got to know you a little better and feel bad about punishing, but I think I will do it soon anyway, since you would probably like that.

If you don't remember the tourney it was us two in the final round and of-course you beat me in a lower class ship. Punk got to be a show-off!!

STEER CLEAR OF MY PATH OR ELSE SUFFER MY WRATH!!!! :<

Later have fun!!

Here's a good idea. Use that skill of killing all players to kill cheats. I've posted this on another topic in the Server forum if you wanna check. If you think it's a good idea to have an anti-cheating group (cloaking device will go to all who enter) I'll start a seperate topic but I'll need a name for the group. Bounty Hunters is already taken

"Sure, as long as I don't get shot at, held at gunpoint, skewered by giant alien shapeshifters, have to jump out windows, fight off unfriendly nomad incubii"

"I mean, in a game where all you have to lose is your cargo, you wonder why more people aren't so daring."

Just have to weigh in on this, like I said in another post , I'm all for PKing, it makes the game a wide open, ever-changing experience. But that quote up there makes it seem like losing your cargo is not much of a deal. After you have a little stash- o-cash it isn't a big thing but for someone just starting or someone who just made a ship upgrade, sometimes that cargo represents a major portion of ones assets.

don't shoot me. . . . . I'm broke!

I am all for pking but i prefer to challenge people 1st. I dont go around killing people but i wont run from a fight either. I'll never open fire 1st on someone with a lower ship than i, but i will return fire if they shoot at me 1st (sometimes i'll leave there hull badly damaged as a warning but if they persist i'll finish them) I am not the best pvp out there i dont intend to be or claim to be. Also just so you know i normally fly a maxed out banshee which is great fun much more challenging (and more manouevrable than all you eagle and saber people).

If i see someone dock camping someone else i'll ask them why they are doing it. If the dont stop open fire on them, when the person who was being camped comes out again then it becomes a 2v1 situation that you shouldnt lose.

I dont normally go after people carrying cargo because i know how annoying it is to lose it, if i am going in the same direction i might fly escort though.

If any of you lot see me around and i am flying my maxed out banshee then (as in i havnt just started on a server) then feel free to challenge me.

One final thing. People have memories they know who has killed them so they might go hunt you down later if you really annoyed them so you have been warned

It may take a life time to get it right but it only takes a moment to lose it all again.

I think i might become a Bounty Hunter that hunts PKers...now that would be fun....me charging in on a duel and scattering ALL opposition...bwaahahahaa...
