For the benefit of all NooBs
If you ever see the words "Blastfest at XXX" (where XXX is the location of a station or planet) on the system chat. This is an Invite to come and grab some big cash quick, but for you're own safety you must follow some rules (especially in Liberty)
1: You'll see a player blasting everything in sight. STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLAYER. We've perfected the art of killing AI in mass numbers, but NooB players will show up as an enemy to the blaster and HE CANNOT TELL WEATHER YOU ARE AI OR PLAYER UNLESS HE ACTUALLY TARGETS YOU. Neither I or my partner actually target anything because we are trying to kill more than one ship at a time. We are not PKer's but some players have found themselves blown up because they got in the wrong place at the wrong time. Blastfests are very chaotic for the fighter. Following the blaster can result in you eating a mine without him even knowing you were back there.
2: you are welcome to beam up any floating goods to sell. Blastfests result in Millions of credits in goods floating around in space. Beam, dock, sell and launch, repeat. Again, stay away from the guy who's doing the shooting.
3: In a freighter, you will make at least twice as much money in the same time.
4: Do not shoot at the guy blasting the AI. This will cause him to think you are AI and as we don't actually target anything there is very little chance of you being seen as a player. Now if you're suicidal, fire away.
5: If you can, announce your arrival and position to us. This is so we avoid heading directly towards you and getting you mixed up with the AI.
6: Stay as close to bases and planets as possible. The blastfest will occur in open space near a dock of some sort. We intentionally avoid shooting in those directions to provide other players a risk free zone to hang out. If you need to fly out to grab loot, make a beeline to your goal and back.
7: Try to avoid beaming up Sheild bats. They are for the guy doing the shooting.
Since this is the fastest way to make money without cheating (and it's lots of fun), you can expect to see blastfests happening more and more on the major servers.
There was some confusion on Elite as to what we were actually doing last night, (most players ran like hell and one actually attacked the blaster (that player died)), so if you read this, you now know what is happening if you see major chaos happening near a base or planet. If it is happening in a Liberty system. Please make all the more effort to obey these rules and you'll stay safe and get tons of cash quick.
One last thing, during the blastfest, only communicate w/ me and follow my instructions if given, and you can without putting yourself in harms way. I'll know where to go to avoid getting in the crossfire if you have any doubts.
Remember to watch for the message, and enjoy the profits when you see it.
