Please send questions/problems relating to account/character issues on Elite and E2 to [email protected], rather than posting here.

(this email address is in the server description as well as in the MOD)

We're incorporating a new player type on Elite. Deputies. Here's the down and dirty on what a deputy is on this server. If you're interested in being a member of this group, send an email to me at [email protected] and I'll review your application.

Server Deputy Oath
----------------------

(Proposal assumes server rule is no PvP in Liberty, modify for just New York)

Server Deputy Motto: 'To Serve the Server'
------------------------------------------

A player may petition the Admin for authorization to create a Server_Deputy.
The scope of the role of the Deputy is to monitor Liberty space to document rules
violators and cheaters. Deputy records violations via screen captures and emails
them to Admin. Deputy callsign format is: Server_Deputy_#xx (xx= his badge #)

Deputy MUST fly this ship:

Liberty Defender HF - L1 5/1 1600 30 14 2/4 70 1750 $12,260
3xG3, 2xG4, 1xT4 Battleship Missouri

Loadout:

5 X Advanced Stunpulse 3/5/189/600/750/4.00/11
1 X Stunpulse Turret 2/4/155/700/700/4.00/9

Wasp Cruise Disruptor 37/18/2500/700/1.00/8.71

NO Minedropper

ANY Countermeasure, ANY Thruster, ANY Shield.

Rules:
------

1. Deputy may only fly in Liberty space.

2. Deputy monitors and issues Warnings. Deputy does NOT enforce.

3. Deputy may NOT fire on players except if fired upon.
Not even to defend a victim.
(Deputy CAN maneuver his ship between PKer and the Victim...)
(Warning shots with turret may be done, but not overused.)

4. Deputy may only drop a violators shields, not damage/destroy his ship.

5. Deputy must keep in mind he has a Class 99 gun - the 'Print Screen' key.

6. Deputy MAY announce a cargo scan, but is NOT obligated to do so.

7. Deputy may disrupt a violators Cruise, to get a capture of cheat weapons.
(Deputy may also disrupt a Trade Lane Ring)

Deputy Manual
-------------

Proper Conduct:

Like a Neighborhood Watch program, a Deputy has little actual authority.
Don't abuse what little authority you do have, what the Admin gives the
Admin can take away. Always act professional, no profanity or abuse allowed.
Deputy is neutral to all factions and all clans and is to be non-political.

Setup:

First step is to get Neutral with all Liberty factions. This is done by
destroying three cargo containers found on the two _Police_ Depots near
Newark Station. (8 available) Just buy a Lavablade for your new Deputy, do
one container at a time, then fly into planet. Rogues & Xenos get Neutral.

Do NOT trade or take bar missions. This would not appear appropriate.
Transfer $25k-$30k funds from another Deputy to buy the ship and weapons.
(Battleship Missouri, Detroit Munitions, Willard Research Station)

Duty:

Deputy announces "On Duty" upon spawn and "Off Duty" when departing.
Primary patrol area is the space around Planet Manhattan. (Noobie spawn area)
A second Deputy on duty may roam as they wish. Announce the server rules
periodically. Warn the noobies who start shooting players out of ignorance.
Scan all ships, both noobie and high level, and look for cheat guns/equipment.
Take screen shot evidence. If an offender attempts to flee to prevent the
capture of evidence, you are authorized to disrupt the Trade Lane Ring and/or
use Cruise Disruptors to accomplish the evidence collection.

It is assumed that in slow/off-peak times Deputy does not need to sit in NY
full time, simply monitor closely the arrival/departure/death announcements.
Arrival of 1st level player in NY prompts instant switch to Deputy. Switch over,
give 'Welcome & Rules' message, scan ship weapons, and ask if player needs any
help. If not new (to server/MP) then switch back to normal ship. A player death
in Liberty *may* be cause to switch, multiple deaths certainly is. (PKing)
Don't leave the Deputy docked, rather preferably just under the Docking Ring.

It's not always possible to get screenshots, but proof can still be obtained.
Elimination of suspects is a valid police process. Hypothetical situation:

There is a sudden rash of PKing at the Manhattan Docking Ring. Instant switch
to Deputy Ship reveals conversation of a Cloaked ship Dock Camping. Immediate
check of Chat list shows seven players in NY. Deputy may request that players
voluntarily submit to a Scan to clear their good name. Any players who refuse
or depart are suspects. If all but one player submits & is cleared, it's proof.

Records:

It is not required but HIGHLY recommended that the Deputy keep a log journal.
In it is recorded patrol duty logs, suspect lists, confirmed cheaters/PKers.

Training:

A Deputy is assumed to not be a noobie, but practice in the techniques of
Stunpulse and Cruise Disruptor may be required. Deputy must learn how to use the
Weapons Group function to select an appropriate number of pulse guns for a target.
One for a warning tap, two for a Starflier,...all six for a VHF. A Stunpulse is
not a 'Nerf' gun, it's a powerful tool. The psychological effect of hearing the
'Shields Failed' is great. Further use of the Stunpulse drains the perps gun
battery, preventing him temporarily from effective use of his guns.

The area behind Planet Pittsburgh is designated 'Deputy Practice Range'.
Deputy Vs. Deputy training with Cruise Disruptors &/or Stunpulse guns may be
done there but nowhere else. Cease activities if any players are detected.

::sigh:: It was fun guys. For a while, i was hoping that it was just a big gag, and whenever it was scheduled to go down, the admin(s) would post on here "Haha, got you guys, elite isn't going down!" But apparently, thats not the case... =/

See you in space!

A Big Thanks to Akataka & Stinger
Elite wil Live on.

I will be honest I did not play on ELITE, but could not sit by and watch another of the TOP unmodded SERVERS die.

I coordinated and requested pemssion to host the server for the Elite Freelancer community. I did the same for the FiiK Server when it was scheduled to go offline. I am very happy to say Akataka agreed to let it Live on!

SOOOOOOOO
Elite Lives on.
Welcome back to all the community and ADMIN personnnel.
You are all welcome back. In actuality it is your home and I am the new one.
I will have Web forum(s) and such up sometime later Sunday Afternoon/Night

From what you say, I assume I can resume patrol duties? My M8s too?
Or do you want to personally aprove us for yourself?

In any case, .... wow! ....

I am relying on my Right hand Man STINGER

Stinger he has just been given Full ADMIN rights to the Forum and I should have a Remote Capability up for the personnel he gives the Up to.

I am happy to have been allowed to keep the Elite online.

I know there are some glitches in the Perl Code I will have it squared away, hopefully by this weekend. Just had to slam something up for everyone and I missed a error in the code. Bear with me for a few days and it should be resolved.
