Whats the best weapon set up for PKing (like anyone is going to tell me this)

right now i have:

Sabre

4 nomad cannons
2 Kraken 2s
1 sunblaster lvl 9 turret (I think)
cruse disrupts
and some mines that i never use

what do you think i should use for player to player combat

On my Titan I have a pair of Tizona del Cid cannons on the outer (class 9) gun mounts. On the inner most gun mounts (best accuracy) I have a pair of Diamondbacks, and the remaining gun mounts have a pair of Guardians.

The Tizona del Cids take out any shield really fast (4.00 refire rate, 1242 shield damage). I use these by pressing 1 and 2, the remaining loadout (Guardians and Diamondbacks) are grouped together and I just use the mouse button for them.

I dont use missles, first they are expensive and I have not found them to be overly effective.

The most effective method ive found is to use the Tizonas del Cids to break through the shields, and then use my main loadout to destroy the hull. The Tizonas use very little energy, while my main loadout drains my power very fast.

first, you both have simply the wrong ship,

second those shildbreakers for the level 9 slots are nice (but you have far to much heavy energy suckers in your sucky bus, so you will lose most fights against anything else than a noob),

aswell kraken, nomad cannons works fine aswell,

I still prefer salamanca and blasters, together with rippers and hornets or sunslayer (hornets when I hunt players, torps for the "real" fights against opponents that will give me a good fight)

the ripper mines are just a nice extra boots, will not really hurt if you don´t have them.

Reading is a fine art, and most ppl have no sense for art.

The best weapon is a Mark 1 lavablade in a Patriot light fighter. Get that and you wont have any problems.

You're welcome.

Tee hee :-)

How's this config: 2 Tizona del Cids, 2 ONYX (can be replaced w/ diamondback/cerberus/wild fire), 2 nomad blasters. I've found that this setup combines good shield dropping performance and energy efficiency (due to those 2 nomad blasters). And remember, unless you're in a Sabre, that turret is pretty much going to be useless. Cheers.

BTW
Where can one buy/find the Tizona Del Cids?

Post Sun Mar 23, 2003 12:02 am

tizonas can be bought at tripoli shipyard or crete, you have to be friendly with corsairs to buy it

Post Sun Mar 23, 2003 3:14 am

personaly I prefer to just shoot down lots of corsairs
those bastards deserve it, and sooner or later they drop them

if its later, its their problem, why should I pay such idiots if I can get it for free over their dead bodys O_o :p

Well basically, when you are playing a human, they tend to hit the panic button as soon as they lose all shields and batteries.

Consider using a pulse weapon or 2 to knock down the their shields faster. Hopefully they wont realise what you are doing and will simply assume you are using really powerful weapons. Once they are down to only armour left, things change a lot.

Make sure you deselect your shield breakers so you can fire with your real guns for longer. Some players will focus on trying to run away at this point, so be prepared to either cruise disrupt them or engine-kill -> boost to chase them. The stronger minded individuals wont stop fighting, but atleast they'll be shieldless and you'll be armed with a longer amount of time to keep firing than before.

Revenge: "The stronger minded individuals wont stop fighting, but atleast they'll be shieldless and you'll be armed with a longer amount of time to keep firing than before."

Unless your opponent also has shield busters. In which case, the fight can get real interesting. Consider, 2 ships of the same model, both comparably equipped, and both have similar fighting techniques (oh, and throw in that both have used up their batteries and are down on nanos). This fight lasted me about 5-15 minutes (I kinda lost track after I kept hearing 'shields failed' every 5 seconds) until I figured out that I needed to change fighting tactics. Remember, in pvp, the one who can adapt to their situation the fastest will win (unless they are seriously out-matched). Cheers.

hmm shild down -> incoming torpedo -> one kill more °_^

bots are rarely saving my ass anyway (if I gonna need them I fight anyway a skilled pilot ... huhu tas ... anyone else is dead anyway), so shildbreakers are not a bad idea, if you use them right, you can kill the shils so quick that your target will not even be quick enough to use bats, kills in less than 1 second are possible...

Apoc

why do you prefer the eagle?

Post Mon Mar 24, 2003 10:00 pm

you can kill something that is one your 6

everything else than a level 10 ship stand no chance against a level 10 ship ... (though ok maybe against a titan, cause its really really sluggish)

so that leaves us the sabre and the eagle as vaild pvp ships

the eagle is more agil, and fires at the screen cornerns aswell with its turret.
energy is no concern.
and a single good salvo can kill your enemy (doesn´t matter if its a eagle, a titan or sabre)

so this leaves the only one thing that matters in combat open.
can I get in shooting position or not.

with a eagle there is NOTHING against you can not get in shooting position.
against a titan, you can play just with one hand, its so sluggish that he will be lucky if he see what killed him.
against a sabre, well, you can still smoke your cig without worry about, you can aswell engage without bots or bats left, cause your enemy will have you that rarely on his screen that your shild reg is mor than enough to compensate for those few hits (and you are always in abit better shooting position, which means you are relativ save from his torps, while your free to shoot yours in his face)

only against an other eagle its a fair match, everything else stand simple no chance, cause the turn rate DOES MATTER in a dogfight.

the game is in pvp more or less exactly what this totaly stupid pro-mouse argument said it would be not -> fyling circles, and the eagle is the best ship in this area ... it flys simple best circles, at least from those ships with a decend armor/shild and weapon rating

To sumurize this long and worthless post, you can´t kill what you can´t hit.
Agility > a little bit more armor
the more agil fighter wins always in a dogfight against the less agil fighter, as long as hit has enough firepower to kill its enemy in a reasonable amount of time.
