Joinging Factions

How do you go about joining a faction. In particular the Bounty Hunter Faction.... I knw you can cause this bounty hunter in manchester said you could. Just he didn't say where or how. So i'm wondering where do i join up and how.....

Click on their name in the Faction list, see who their Enemies are and kill them. Your Bounty Hunter faction will get better.

I know that, but like when you are a part of that faction, next to your name it will say like Bounty Hunter...like when you first start a char, it says Navy next to yer name. And when you check yer rep, it is blinking..... i'm not sure how to get that with anyone else. I have don't like 30 missions for them and all there allies are my allies and all there enemy's are my enemy's...so..i lost

i have a feeling the game is called free lancer for a reason

I know it is possible to join the other factions because I have seen one or two people flying around wih "Outcast" next to their name. I'm just not sure how it's done, or if you just have to do like 100,000 missions (exaggeration, I hope) to get friendly enough.

But if it is about freedon shouldn't you have the freedon to join people?

'tis true... when everybody starts you are navy .. and can join other factions but how? .. i wanna get in with the hessians

maybe by bribing them?

Try checking at their bases. The bribe might work if you are already max friendly with them.

Just raise your rep with whatever faction you want to join. Soon as it is high enough, it will say that factions name next to your own (I don't think it blinks in you rep screen though).

You don't get any perks though.

OK, but isn't it possible to make that when you join a server and create a char, you can choose your faction and the game starts with the right name and reputation?

Short of playing on a modded server or cheating, no.

i think it might list those people by different factions by who is MOST friendly to them, as in the last spot on the rep sheet

Not true, I was once listed as a junker and they were neutral on my rep list :/

When you first Join a game you actually have no affiliation what-so-ever. But you need money so almost always the first thing you do is a Navy Mission.

In the beginning you can avoid this by leaving Manhatton space and doing a mission for someone that is not Liberty Navy or Police. From there, the best way to change affiliation is destroy the enemy of the faction that you wish to join, and then Do missions/favors for them untill they become top of your list on the green scale. Favors being things like supplying needed goods to the base even if you take a loss, or rescuing faction members in a fight In the most extreme cases you can get other rewards too when doing these "favors".
