Why Multiplayer?

I'm really starting to wonder about this. I've had exactly five multiplayer experiences thus far on the Elite server. I flew one mission with a bloke I've never seen since, I've had three conversations--one long, two very short--with people in the same system, and I've had one person follow me in a Titan hoping I'd take my little Patriot out of Liberty space so he could blast me. For the rest of the time--hours of it--I've seen no one and heard nothing. It has been exactly like a single player game, only with lag.

So what's going on with multiplayer? Do people actually group together to do things? Or is it just a single player game with a mostly-empty chat room tacked on?

Since you cant talk sever wide, chatting is kinda slow. It's cool if you already know people and want to hook up and play though.

just try to speak to some ppl
about 50% will even answer
which is 50% more than ai

and than check if you have atm the same goals, and you are ready for grouping

ah, btw if have trouble with such a titan that follows you all the time, it may be a good idea to msg some others and tell them about your little "fan", it is so sweet to jump out of liberty space with such a shadow and have on the other side of the gate already 2-3 eagles waiting to blast the titan, its a matter of less than 1 second, and the folloing msgs from the titan pilot will amuse you all

LOL, good advice, Apocalypse!

And I do try to talk to folks. I say hi when I log in, and whenever I'm in a system with other people. But most of the time I get no answer, and I only occasionally see people working together. I may just have logged in on a few off days for the server, but it does seem a fairly limited multiplayer game.

I don't fault the other players for that, btw. I fault Microsoft. They could have made this a much more engaging multiplayer game, they could even have turned it into an MMORPG, but instead they did this weird cross between a Quake-style multiplayer game and an MMORPG. The limited number of players per server, combined with the problem of rebuilding a character on each server, has limited the game far too much.

Microsoft wouldn't even have had to invest as much money as in a full-scale MMORPG to make it work, that's the sad thing. Provide stable 24-hour servers that can accept 500 players at a time, and they could even charge a small monthly fee and get away with it. It should be within the realm of possibility.

In case you can't tell, I'm a bit disappointed in the game. :

I'm with you there (a bit disappointed). I'll keep playing, but probably only on non-PK servers. Otherwise multiplayer reminds me too much of getting my ear cut off by invisible cheaters in Diablo.

I don't have access to the Elite server so me and my freinds play all over, right now We're on the Imperium server It's the one that say "Imperium" (without quotes) and some other stuff without anything in front of it, I've started my own "traders" guild and wouldn't mind any help cause my freinds can't get on all the time, if you don't know what we do I'll explane ingame cause I'm sleepy right now, just let me say that the quotes are there for a reason L"T"G an offer you can't refuse, well ok you can but It's a pretty good offer, together we're worth upwards of 2mil I think not quite sure.

Now I'm going to do what is stated in bellow but not before seeing the reaction lol

Now I Am Going Back To The X2 Forums Bye. MWAHAHAHAAA!! ha?
