Having the ability to move the wings in the game again.



You were never able to. We saw it happening in the videos once but only during landing so it might be impossible to force it now.



Removing the trailing effects with regards to wingtips & hull.



Why?



Re-balancing for different velocities per-ship.



Good idea, but you should change more than just velocities. Everything would need to be redone, like hull strength and equipment levels. Also this mod would seriously crap the SP game, so I would make it MP only.

changing the ships stats (except maybe for the speed) is 99% possible (the 1 percent is because they may have written that into the exe file, but i really doubt it).

speed... well, i'm not sure if there is a speed-stat for each ship, as they have all the same velocity. though i have experienced that somehow the gunboats are faster than fighters traveling with normal speed... (could be that they are just using "crappy" thrusters though). The thruster speed might be able to be changed, 'cause in the stats for the thruster there is a "max velocity" point (though it's the same with all thrusters, if i remember correctly.. they mainly differ in their energy consumption).

I have noticed that gunboats move faster than fighters as well. I'm fairly certain that all the stats are stored in .ini and if someone can figure out which format they use, it would be really easy to change the stats. It will probably take a little work before we can actually get anything done though.

Having each ship have diff speeds would really screw up the game in SP, what if the AI has the fastest and just keeps running away from you ... for ever?!

well md:
a) thrusters should still be faster
b) shooting some good ol' missiles (would have to make them faster too)
c) make sure YOU are in the fastest ship around

Never saw it in any of the videos but there had to have been a way since in some of the videos you could clearly see shots where both the Liberty Elite had its wings fully extended & parts where they would be swept back & this was pertaining to in-game scenes.

I don't think all of those would need to be redone at all since they are not all the SAME each has there own strengths and weaknesses & seem to worlk fine from what I've seen & heard,but what I think needs work is the velocity which is one of the first tasks I might start as soon as I'm finished playing through the game at least 3 times & make the adjustments accordingly.I just find it strange that a Kusari Dragon & say a Titan have the same speed.

BTW,The mod will be SP only,since if it was MP then the server would have to support it as well which could cause a lot of confusion,however if the results are good in the SP game I might try an MP port.

The mod would seriously screw up the SP portion though. Plus, you won't be sayign the ships are equal if you try flying a Defender into Rheinland space and attacking the nearest police. I'm serious, they did change all the values. Go look at the ship list if you don't believe me.

This whole editiing this is completely new to me, im trying to learn little bits by reading ur posts, u know give me an idea of what it is u actually do.

from what ive read i can understand (i think) why u cant do ur own missions, but why cant you add a new system?

And also if u do make new guns or ships, will you do things like just leave a ship or gun hidden in an asteroid field somewhere so a lucky person can happen across it.

And will u be able to add new space phenomina? or at least funky stuff within reason.

keep up the posts, this forum makes for interesting reading.

Hadn't gotten the game yet so didn't really see the relevance yet for the trails but since I haven't even gotten past mission 4 yet I'll probably just wait until the game gets released to continue the balance mod when everyone basically has the game.It would make things easier since more people will have the game & the more feedback the better since this would all be based on final code.
