Opening MP JUMP GATES AND HOLES

Has ANYONE ever posted a real WORKING tutorial about opening all the jump gates and holes for Multiplayer?

Now, before anyone goes medevil on my buttocks, I've tried a lot of them.
The closest I've come to a working one is the Open Single Player Lite (Chips, Xerx & Argh) but this is apparently only useful in Open Single Player and not to be used in MP.

I can't go into any deeper details on my experience with various tutorials on the subject or it's going to end up in a flame fest. But I will say that I dispise guesswork and misleading information.

you have to edit the initialworld.ini and erase the first locked_gate section stuff

If you do not make a player wipe at the same time, this will not affect playerfiles. You need to globally edit ALL chars so that they no longer carry the locked_gate lines.
The problem is: if there are 30 players with no locked_gate entries and a player with locked_gate entries joins the server, the entries will get added to all the other players as well.
(at least i have been told that it "works" that way)

Do what w0dk4 said, only open up initialworld.ini and remove all locked_gate lines (npc_locked_gate lines can stay). As long as those lines aren't present in initialworld.ini (as well as deleted from your players), you _should_ be fine.

You mean... all it takes is just removing (deleting) all those "locked_gate" entries?

In initialworld.ini? Yes, I believe so. For good measure, I'd recommend deleting the locked_gate lines out of player files, however Ioncross's "open all locked gates" button in the player editor makes that easy (you just.. Have to do it for every character heh)

Just curious, did you have to remove all locked_gate lines in the player-files, or just remove the initialworld.ini lines? In my experience, FL gets rid of locked_gate lines for you when you delete them in initialworld.ini, but I've never directly tested it.

I deleted all the "locked gate" entries below the "Group_File" header in the initialworld.ini file.

What I'm doing here is working on a major conversion mod for Multiplayer.
This means that new players will have to download the mod. This also means that all new players will have the same files as the server files.

What I did to be on the safe side was create a backup copy of the original initialworld.ini and tucked it away on my desktop. Then, I deleted all the "locked gate" entries below the "Group_File" header. Next, I activated my mod then started the server.
Once I got my hands on a little more decent ship (to get around the nomads) I went to the first jump gate that's normally locked tight: NY to Magellan..
It opened flawlessly and I went right into magellan without a hitch. Although, the lane hackers weren't happy to see me near their base.
Of every system that normally has a Story Line Locked Gate or Jump hole,
(and even some other holes such as Hokaido to Tohoku) all those holes were simply unlocked as though the story line didn't exist.

this is the initial world ini from my mod the order mod you just put a semi colon in front of all the locked gates and they open . if you have players on your server with locked gates you have to do a player wipe . you see i like to add this file with my mods because i saves me alot of trouble with editing this file every time i do a clean install of freelancer . this file is a server side file.

By commenting out( the 'npc_locked_gate' you will be causing carnage in New York, npc's will be trying to get to the Alaska gate, unfortunately the zone 21 minefield is in the way.

im not a mass murderer but i do have the navy and bounty hunters shootin it out uver prisiners in my mod. thats how they all did it a while ago by using the semi colon
