sector renewed

I´m working on a mod that brings a completely new sector. no more sirius. So is there a way to completely bypass the storyline? At the moment the mod crashes at startup, even with freshstart.

You can scan your mod with FLScan version 1.3 the Freelancer Mod Scanner by Accushot...

FLScan is a program that will scan your modified Freelancer files looking for errors saving you time and headaches. You can direct the program to scan certain areas of your project or to simply scan the whole lot. An error report will be created which details the problems, common causes and possible ways to fix the problem. FlScan can also repair THN files, generate pathfinding information for a mod automatically and inspect your mod files as you work and report errors as you make them.

I think hes talking about total conversion.

Cold Void did a mod that removes the linkage between MP and SP in terms of missions etc, I don't know if he has that up for download however, but others have accomplished this as well

It will retain the original factions, items, ships etc in the ini files, so if you wanted a clean FL ready for total conversion you'd need to remove as much as possible.

I made a very simple mod that completely annihilates all references to the storyline, which would in theory enable all the contents of freelancer to be removed. Its excellent for the kind of TC your talking about

There is one drawback - on SP mode, you cannot gain ranks, so the mod starts you out at rank 50. This does not apply to MP, however, which functions normally.

I hope that works. The last thing i tried out (the mod mentioned more to the top) ruined my FL, keeping it crashig at starttup

->Keep a second FL, e.g. by using express installation.

here it is - updated it today to remove some remaining bad refs in news.ini
what it is: rips the universe out of the game, leaving you with the bare minimum (Li01/FP7/Intro bases) of systems to edit. It doesn't alter any equipment, etc - just leaves you with a blank-slate universe

Any chance of removing everything except the default starflier and its equipment? Maybe with blank files, so that the extra data isn't there for those who would like clean TC mods hehe.

Goto DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP and find the nav_prettymap.3db file. Open this up with UTF edit, until you find the fancymap.tga file, extract it, modify it in a paint program of your choice, and resave, job done.
