Oh. Well, I just wanted to make a new weapon. Not a new .cmp and everything... I thought it was all in the ini's to make new weaps...

I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members.

Simply find the "EXE" located in
HD Letter here>>X:/Programs/Micrsoft games/Freelancer/EXE

then scroll down til you see a file called

mpnewcharacter.fl

you can sort by file type look for "FL file" (should only be 2 and one of them is

*mpnewcharacter.fl

(right click) the *file, select (open) or (open with), next a window will (pop up) saying windows cannot open the file and abunch of blah blah MS crap..

at the bottom of this window are two options to choose from..
(choose) the bottom one "select a program from a list"

**Next a window pops up**
in this window is a list, and one selectable option**
select notepad

**Option(all read)"Always use this program to open or use this type of selected file"
For god sake..read it again!
(being on the safe side)

"Always use this program to open or use this type of selected file"
SELECT (NO) *UNCHECK IT*

if you dont you just, screwed yourself royal!

But we'll assume u unchecked it..and have select Notepad as the program to open the file..

once its open look for a line with this in it..

money=%%MONEY%% (delete ->>%%MONEY%%)
and add the amount of money you want NEW players on your Multiplayer server to start with..ex) 25000

Table
----------
25000=25,000
40000=40,000
1000000000=1,000,000,000

that simple..no programs needed..just Notepad!

Steps again, but short explaining..
1.look for file mpnewcharacter.fl, in your EXE folder

2.right click the FL file, open with notepad
(make sure that the "default options" is not checked)

3.Look for the line "MONEY=%%MONEY%%"

4.change "%%MONEY%%" to the amount you want.

save file and your done..

Ps. dont change the name of the file, or it wont work..

Really noobish, but probably relevant.

Since I only have a humble dail-up connection, what is the best way to get all (or a lot) of the info in this thread fast and offline. The best I can think of is copying to Wordpad, but it adds a lot of junk hyperlinks for the various graphics, and MS Word takes to long to copy the graphics. Help me. Please.

Best way I can think of is to do File -> Save As, then select "Web Page, HTML Only" as the file type. This will save the text and formatting but none of the images etc., and cuts the size down to about 50k a page.

TRue, Accu, but dial up isnt much fun for games its better to try and see if your can get an upgrade to at least DSL if you play online. Its more fun. Except when your server is 7000 miles away from you then it doesnt really matter (damn you Eagle Utopia )

uhhh, i have a question. my Klingon Dreadnaught minimod (made by Wrath of Achilles) wont work ever since i loaded up the AC2 Clanwars mod (by Blackassimilation, TaTe, and Crabtree) it says "Error: Unable to find dest 'archetype = ge_fighter'(...) in 'E:\Freelancer\data\SHIPS\loadouts.ini"
pls tell me how 2 fix it. i even tried reinstalling the game and manually coping over all the files from the disk

The error is coming up because FLMM cannot find the line "archetype = ge_fighter" in loadouts.ini. Try installing the SDK - that should fix the problem.

The Problem is I have added nomads to NY in the universe systems Li01.ini as follows

Now that i did that i get an error in the server comes up as

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\CSolar.cpp[606:***ERROR:space costume head 0 does not exist

Funny thing is it still works all can see and shoot nomads with no probs (just this anoying error)
what an i doing wrong here?

Well the error means that it is looking for the head of a character but it can't find the right one, so either you've messed up your installation or something, but if you've only changed these two files then it could be to do with the lines:

costume = king
com_costume = %%COMM_COSTUME%%

So try changing it back to:

costume = %%BASE_COSTUME%%
com_costume = %%COMM_COSTUME%%

And see if that works

1. You have to register milkshape or aquire a reg key through other means
2. The main stuff you will need:
Milkshape - Search on google
Gmax - Search on google
Utf-edit - On this site
And you will also need BINI from this site or the SDK to get decompressed versions of the INI files.

@Zeep: Yes it probably is possible but it depends on which format it is in.

Yes ive tried that but still does it.

It only does it after putting nomads in ny. If i remove the nomads it stops comming up with the error but my mates really love having them there.

I also have nomads in alaska but dont get this problem there only in NewYork.
Ive tried moving them to a diferent place in ny but same result.

Look in your li01.ini file for something like this line:

space_costume = 0, pi_pirate6_body

and just change it to:

space_costume = , pi_pirate6_body

Thankyou verry much that has fixed the problem.
This has been driving me nuts for about 3 weeks.
The problem was this line that appered twice in that file
space_costume = 0, robot_body_A

Once again thanks big time

PS: I went to all the docks in NY to make shure the robots still had there heads and yes they do.
One more question, if i want to have batleship encounters on my server, Do the client side have to have that inabled on there side as well or can i just add them to the server?
