Beating the Arch

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Beating the Arch

I'm stuck.

I've been at the Arch six times now and gotten blown up every time.

Some interesting things I've noticed:

You can't hold back and let the others kill off the ships. Everyone flies at your speed.

As an experiment I did the Anubis mod and worked my way up, talk about BORING, to the Arch mission and even with Sun(star?)killer torps I can't kill the generators before I get blown up.

The origninal briefing mentioned going into the base from the opposite side, then I'm told I have to blow up the shield generators. Do I ignore the original mission orders?

It seems that every enemy fighter is gunning for me, almost to the point of ignoring my escorts. Is that normal?

This worked for me.

Ignore the other ships, they are distractors, cruise to the bottom of the base and up through the hollow center, this will scrape off most pursuit. Let shield keep the cruisers grief off of ya a bit. Might help to take out a couple pesky turrets on the arch. Take out the shield generators not in los of cruiserfirst, then strafe run the one exposed to cruiser fire.

Thats like what I did just last night. I strafed back and forth between the 2 generators not exposed to the cruiser, then I flew around and around the shield, slowing when I approached a generator and straffed past it firing. I didn't try using 'z', but that probably would have given me more firing time on each one while still moving (i.e. avoiding cruiser fire). I didn't even take armor damage through my first try at it.

i found a little bitty bug that can be used, if you go in "snug" underneath or next to generators, and sit RIGHT NEXT TO them, and move your speed to 0, most enemies cant fire at you.

I did this on every later game target to kill, including battleships, cruisers, etc.

if you get right up next to them on their longest axis you can just unload on them and generally wont get enough fire to kill you.

its a little bug in the AI thats easy to exploit if you have a problem with the ships out there.

Thanks people.

I used the hole in the ground method and it works nicely.

Now I'm on the Nomad battery mission, and getting butt kicked at the station.

Oh, well.
