Shadow Planet

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Speaking of flying out past the map...
Has anyone noticed how dang TWO-DIMENSIONAL FL space is?
Ya, I know our solar system is in a plane mostly, but this is SPACE!

Just once something up or down would be nice. Has anyone flown UP or
DOWN just to see what happens? I plan on it soon, but anyone try it?
This may be difficult seeing there's nothing to fly to, but I can see
coming down onto a target in a radioactive cloud from above, eh?

umm i think nothing will happen.. you'll probably fly to the end of your time or... your pc crash without any warning due to the huge amount of RAM needed or some glitch or there will be some boundaries... I ve never tried open flying before does your map update the Neural net?

argh.. im never gonna get paid.. goodbye a million credits..

Either you're making it up, or too many mods screw up the game.

damnit, now i'm currious...

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea for melting down coins to make a giant robotic parrot was a bad idea, I would have one kicka$$ giant robotic parrot.

Well I tried it last night. Used the Cortez system, it's perfect for it.
I targeted the Curacao Docking Ring and went straight up. Mostly. A few
course corrections & eventually the Nav Map showed my 300m/s ship stationary.

After 200k, I stopped. Looking down, all I could see is the planet, sun,
and the two Ice Clouds. Could not see Corcovado ice field. Turned off all
background stuff. Nav Map showed me sitting 2k away from docking ring.

Probably no need to go higher than 100k (HUD=Far) to drop in from above
onto any point in any system. Useful for things like radioactive clouds,
since they're not very thick. Don't know how well this would work to avoid
Hostiles, they would have a long time to notice you. Certainly can get from 1
end of a system to the other, gate 2 gate with minimum hassle but max time.

Hmm, think I might just try to find this "planet" as well. And if I do get a lock on it I will send a screen shot to some of the people here. Oh, and don't worry about me trying to doctor the photo or anything, all I have on my comp is Paint.

Post Wed May 07, 2003 9:55 pm

uuhhh, then better dont post a screenie here on the forum (cause it would be only in .bmp format )

Post Wed May 07, 2003 10:06 pm

you can still save it as a jpg instead of a bmp even with ms paint

If you fly atleast 2K above everything the AI Ships dont notice you, good for avoiding something/smuggling.

Post Mon May 26, 2003 10:50 am

If you want to know what it looks like,do this, target the thing you want to look presses the locked ship icon, done.

Would be helpful if you could post a screenshot.

I'd like to know more about it myself.

As for trying to get to it, mod your game so the cruise speed is like a million or something. Then fly to it.

One time I was meeting a group member in space for a mission and the group member nav icons were on top of each other and i couldn't see him anywhere. I thought it was lag or something, but he was actually 15k directly above me.
