How do you fight?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Mouse flight is the only way to go when in combat in my opinion.

Unless you're flying a freight... in which case I go to turret view (but still mouse flight)

I remember a quote in the manual from a certian character that said something like "I only use Mouse flight in combat when it gets realy bad". What is he smoking, and why isint he sharing?

well....depending on ur style. i play freeflight, a friend o mine plays cklick-flight. because: he uses his fighter as a kind of gunnerystation, while i use it as a fighter (d'oh!). i tried in click-flight, but it suckes when u forget to press that damn button and end up crashing in something....

I rearranged everything becasue the defaults are horrid.
Q = cruise disruptor
W = cruise
E = speed up
R = free flight
T = torpedo
A = mine
S = strafe left
D = strafe right
F = afterburner
G = nanobots
Z/X/C = default
V = closest enemy
B = default

Then I do use mouse1 (left button) to steer, most of the time unless I'm in a freighter, then I just tell the ship to dock/go-to whatever I need to be and turret view using the free flight to fight. Mouse2 (right) fires and Mouse3 (middle) uses shield batteries.

Mouse flight, of course. Though I wish it had an option like Tachyon: The Fringe, where holding down the right button in mouse flight allowed for precise movements, and not 'sliding' like normal.

In Tachyon if you're using this option and move the mouse an inch to the right, your ship yaws an inch to the right and stops, it doesn't keep going because the mouse is off-center.

I would have loved to be able to do rolls.

I thought mouse flight = click LMB to turn, or ship goes straight; while

Free Flight = ship turns in the direction of where your cursor is, relative to centre of screen.

So how do you fight when in mouse flight?

Edit: Never mind, I had it the other way around (doh!)

But then you'd have to left click to follow, or else he'd fly off the screen...
