Did I screw the pooch or is this normal?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Did I screw the pooch or is this normal?

Okay, I just got back to Leeds after pickin' up the good Dr. Sinclaire. Now, I have to level up but there are NO jobs on the job boards ANYWHERE! Now, prior to this, I modified the random missions to give me 10 times as much as normal so I can level up faster, but they never gave me any trouble. Is this supposed to be happening? I mean, is it hardwired into the game that you have to make the necessar credits by trading or did I screw up the game and have to go back or somethig?

Its possible you screwed up the game.

"Impossible" is just a word...

You problably screwed the pooch. I used a trainer at first and could'nt advance past level 5. My buddy has had a problem b4 with his trainer also. He did'nt use it until he was level 7 and got stuck at level 10. The best thing to do is use the .ini file cheat if cheating is what u want to do. Don't use any trainers though 'cause it seems to corrupt files.

I didn't use a trainer. I decompressed the diff2money ini file in the random missions folder, making it a text document and tacked on a single 0 to the end of each line, multiplying the payment per random mission by 10 so it would be easier to level up. I'm interested in the story and want to gt it finished and gain all the knowledge and stuff before I get into the exploration and character development part of the game. I can get it all back to normal, but then I have to make up 600K credits in 2-3K increments because of the random missions only giving me little bits of moneys. I don't like to be limited. I want to experience the story, but I don't have the time to play it for a week straight breaking not to eat or sleep, but only to pee. So, I want to finish the story quickly and then have fun with exploration and so forth. Do I need to recompress the text document once I change it? It worked fine until this point without recompressing it. I don't know why it won't now.

How did you do that? Nothing recognizable is in that file for me...

Used this site's "Freelancer uncompressor" to convert it and edit it. Worked for a while. Then it just stopped.

I can't find said utility on the downloads page. Is it under a different name? If not, do you have a link?

I think he means this program: click here

That's what cheaters deserve... in any kind of game. 'nuff said.

Why are you such in a rush to finish the game? Are you on a time table? What would be so bad if the game lasted a few months for you, and was enjoyable?

I just don't get people that need cheats in games =/

Andrew,

Don't you like to have fun? I have no idea why someone would buy this game if they didn't like earning money. Obviously, that part is a hassle to you...may I suggest Super Mario Sunshine? =)

i understand andrew's feeling though. hey we are students, we don't have THAT much time to save money to lvl up... if we follow the way the game intended to be, we need about 15 hrs of gameplay just to lvl up once. 15hrs... it will take me a whole week.

I just don't get it. Lots of people are complaining about this game way too short, and others are cheating to level up faster? *just looks confused* Anyway, I'm sorry your game's screwed up. Guess all you can try at this point is undoing what you did, but I doubt that'll work - worth a shot though.

AndrwTrvrs, my friend had tried the problem now you facing...
The only solution for him, is to date back the save files that save before he cheat...
as he had all deleted, so I lend mine to him....
as the level up system in this game is base on your worth, if you get money at a "too huge" amont, it will finish and u can never level up again

Now, see, that's all I was lookin' for. I like the exploring aspect of the game but I can do that after I get the story done. That's all I'm lookin' for. I think I'm gonna have to go back and restart the game. Which really, REALLY sucks because I've found a crap load of stuff. I guess I'll just have to go back through and document everything I've found. But it was through sheer luck that I got through have the situations in which I found myself the last few systems. And that run out of Liberty! HOLY FLURKING SCHNITT! Oh well. Time wounds all heels. I'll deal. Thanks for your insults and judgment, people. Hahaha! Kidding. I understand ya'll's standpoints and I respect 'em. I just ask that you respect mine, as well. Happy gaming and thanks for your help!
