nomad weapons

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

If you just hit Ctrl F on your keyboard to search the page and type in Nomad you will see about a million posts (maybe more) about Nomad weapons. There has to be a at least 5 new posts a day asking where to get them. I'll go ahead and tell you though, here's a copy of a good post by Skaleus:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is desperately needed, so please sticky this so the Nomad Weapons threads can stop.

Q. Where can I find the Nomad weapons?
A. Omicron Alpha, near the jumphole to the Unknown System. That's F4 on the grid.

Q. I've killed a few Nomads in the right place, but didn't get any weapons!
A. Not every ship drops a weapon. I'd say one in four, maybe five, drops one.

Q. How many different Nomad weapons are there?
A. There are two that they drop, the Nomad Cannon and Nomad Blaster.

Q. How do I get to Omicron Alpha?
A. There are jump holes from Omicron Beta and Tau-29. Go to your navmap and check the patrol routes to find the jump holes.

Q. I'm in Omicron Alpha, but I don't see any Nomads!
A. Go to the grid location F4. They show up every few minutes in waves of four fighters.

Q. What else is in Omicron Alpha?
A. Omicron Alpha is the home of the Outcasts, and they're packing Sabres and some insanely good equipment. Make sure you're friendly with them before you go in so you don't have to fight them off, and so you can have a place to repair and equip the Nomad weapons. You should also have a ship with a strong hull due to the radiation in that sector.

Q. What are the stats on these weapons?
A. Here's the stats on the weapons. Note that both weapons need NO energy to fire, so they won't drain your reserves like other weapons.

Nomad Blaster
Hull Damage: 635
Shield Damage: 317
Range: 699
Speed: 600
Rate of Fire: 4.0
Energy: 0

Nomad Cannon
Hull Damage: 847
Shield Damage: 423
Range: 699
Speed: 600
Rate of Fire: 3.03
Energy: 0

Just curious, which nomad weaps would u guys prefer? Cannon (higher dam but slower hit) or a blaster (lower dam but shoot faster)?

Esp from dog-fighting pt of view?

don't go to omicron alpha, there's another one in omicron gamma where the jumpgate (northeast of the omicron theta jumphole) leads to a system without radiation and a place to repair if you need to. (easter egg there too)

I prefer a combination of both. 2 of each

I'm the kind of guy that will spam around the ship, because of the lag, usually most people wait till they try to turn and take a few good shots. but the player isn't gonna give you that chance in dogfights, 2 of each is synonomous to having a higher rate of fire, when I hold the fire the area of damage is greater, but that's my preference.

Hehe, I also farm my nomad weaps from Omicron Gamma, at the JH NE of the map. At least I dun have to bother abt those outcasts in Alpha (I'm KOS by outcasts but friendly to Consair).

personally, i prefer farming my weapons at the omicron gamma jump hole

easier to get them there ( my personal opinion), plenty of corsair wrecks to pass the time too

but i do recommend loading up on faster firing weapons than those level 10 weapons that you will prolly have equipped, try loading the whole ship with salamanca mk ii's or mk i's

Bleh, now I feel stupid... I spent all that time in Alpha killing BOTH Outcasts and Nomads while trying to stay alive and doing insane runs to the jumphole. Ah well, off to Gamma I go.

& you gotta be around level 35... at least that's what I think

I was trying really hard to get those guns, after reading in this post that about 1 out of 4 or 5 would drop one.

After having killed maybe 10 waves of 4 each (that's 2 runs with 5 waves each... I'm not that good ;p) and even having been thru the jumphole into their 'own' system, and none of them still had dropped one, I started to 'clear' some of the wrecks on the Outcast side of the jumphole (Omicron Alpha).

After finding some good equipment in the Outcast 'tombs', I changed level a couple of times while still combing the churchyard.

I must have been around level 32 or 33 when I first tried to get the weapons, but after scooping up the goods and 'transcending' to around level 35, and then squashing the next wave of Nomads coming thru, one of them suddenly dropped a gun.

After that the 'statistics' was right.

After a small trip back to Malta to purchase new shield-batteries, I managed to get around 6 or 7 guns in my next run, killing maybe 4 or 5 waves of 'squids'

Cardamine...
Cardamine...
everybody wants Cardamine...

yah cap'n is right i think.

over the last day i killed about 200 nomads (i stopped keeping track at about 25 waves), got a total of 2 cannons. i grouped with a level 38 player and got 6 in 3 waves. nothing was different cept i was grouped with him.
