It isn't for sale anywhere which leaves me to believe that it is either in some derilict ship (or nomad ship or somewhere hidden) or not used at all.

hmmmm...... that would be a shame. Know that I think of it, I haven't really been able to find any gravitron shields.

What kind of stupid strategy guide that doesn't tell you where to get it? Don't you have to pay for those books?

Anyway, I think someone already went through the ini codes and came up with the conclusion that lvl 10 gravitons aren't for sale

Hey Genshi, looks like you beat me to this Was just about to post about this shield.

And actually I'm a little upset that the book doesn't tell you where to get any of the weapons, shields, mines and so on. It just says how much they are, what they do, damage, and all that. That's it. The book is helpful in some places, but after reading through almost the whole thing, I've noticed mistakes. Spelling errors, prices are wrong. Mainly the ships. One of them was $100k off, and it says it can support class 9 weapons, when it can only support up to class 8

Is there a way to edit the ini so you can get the shields? It's kind of a bummer that you read something about this shield, then find out you can't even buy it. If I could add it into the game, would be nice. I'd put a fair price on it as well (like what the price says in the book)

I don't really know much about editing ini files, especially these ones, cause they look confusing. How can I edit them right? Do I need a certain reader or something? Is there a program out there I need? Or is someone making one to make editing them easier?

Well I guess HCI released something that would help. Now I just have to figure out how to actually add it in and make it buyable... looks confusing

Ya I'm also a long time reader and first time poster. I appreciate all the feed back. I tried getting a hold of the Sybex people but they wont reply. Oh well... I'll have to check out that ini editor and release something so everyone can have it like the book says.

Alright, I figured out where the sheild is in the ini file. I guess I just over looked it the first time. Now I just have to figure out how to put it in which bases I might want it in. The base names are a little weird, so it's hard to pinpoint which base is what

Example: Br03_01_base
Which I'm guessing is a Bretonia base, but which one?

I have though figured out which one is planet Manhattan, but instead of feel like cheating and adding the shield there, I wanted to add it to certain bases

This shield is indeed not buyable. It's not listed anywhere on any base in the game. It looks like this is something that might have been taken out before the release (kind of like the black holes). Looks like the only way to get this shield is by adding it in. I've decided to just add this shield to every base that sells class 10 shields, seeing that I'm not going to sit down and try and figure out every base that's listed, cause they're names are weird. As stated above. Another example is that planet Manhattan is called "Li01_01_base". So I'm not going to go through the long list of bases trying to figure out which one is which

Wonder what would happen if you add a mark11 shield in there? What about lvl 10 molecular shield?

I don't think there are mark 11s. Not unless you completely made it your self. How do you edit prices anyways? When I added the shield in the game, I noticed it has the same price as the other class 10 shields. So I want to raise the price on the Adv. Champion Shield to make it better fit instead of being the same exact price. Other wise it's just dumb to have the other shield in there

how do you add the line to your ini file???.. everytime i do it i just can't buy any equipment when i reenter the game.. the equipment screen is just blank.

get the bini.exe (INI Decompressor) from the Editing section

then drop and drag market_goods.ini (DATA\EQUIPMENT) onto bini.exe, then you can delete market_goods.ini and rename market_goods.ini.txt (remove the .txt)


then find Li01_01 (Manhattan)

and add the line

MarketGood = shield01_mark10_hf, 30, -1, 10, 10, 0, 1

to the bottom of it..... i think thats right

then goto manhattan and buy it
