Horribly disapointed if this is all there is

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Mustang, the game took so long to make that in the last year or so i gave out hope of ever seeing it lol. It was a Vision of what could be the holy grail of privateer players the world over.
Look at everyone's post the nay sayers and the players defending the game for what it is, which to me everyone is right, some will love it some will hate it. i'm giving up on this discussion. I leave it to the mod-makers who love this game and can see what it can become to take there journey down the trade lane of this lost vision.

Guys ,all I expected was an updated version of Privateer and to me FL has delivered in Spades and Ive only seen the Demo.I agree theres lots of possibilities but really they should come as addons or mission packs or 2 version there is a whole heap of people out there who have never played the game .My opinion is when you build a franchise you need a base to build from, FL is a base which has a wide canvas an could make Microsoft heaps .They are not silly they will see potential and very quickly want to take my money for any addons and I will gladly pay. Thanks DA and Microsoft for keeping to the idea, miss the Killrathi a bit though.

"Ive only seen the Demo"

Then your argument is moot.

Anyway, guys, don't get me wrong. For what it's worth, the campaign was fun and challenging. However, I heard all sorts of things about tons of varied and well-made random missions as well... You call a difference of 500 in reward cash varied!? For me, this was the most disappointing part of the game, closely competing with the abrupt and irritating... Heck, I wasn't even sure it was done, but when I'd made another 10 grand taking mediocre jobs killing pirates (whom I AM FRIKIN ALLIED WITH!! What's up with that???) I knew that it must be over. It left me with a feeling of confusion... Why end the game without even letting the player know for sure that after this all you were going to be doing is trading in your uber ship for a vastly inferior one and refitting your weapons, flying around and getting arrested...

What is the fun in knowing that you have the best possible weapons configuration and strongest ship in the game, taking missions to kill your alies?

Honestly, I had a lot more fun with I-War 2's freeform (and in general). I really wish that they had spent a little more time so there's be more than just fly to X location, blow up a half dozen vastly outclassed and dumb AI'd ships then return home and collect your tiny reward.

I'm awaiting a patch or addon, I think. Again, I liked the campaign, but I would've wanted to see more.

Are you Bershe from Haegemonia galaxy?

Post Tue Mar 11, 2003 9:02 am

Bershe - are you sure you have the best weapons, for unless you have cheated, you can impossibly have gotten all the codename weapons, and the best ship at a cost of 750K credits in 13 hours... Unless you of course spoil the game for your self with the absolutly best traderoute as it stands...

No way has the poster of this thread managed to complete all the game missions regarding the Aliens in like 13 hours of game-play. Unless he cheated!

You would'nt even have got through some of the early missions using the basic ship you start of with in the game. And it would have taken you at least a couple of days to get the cash to buy the more advanced ships, and weaponry needed for the harder missions. Even by taking the fast option by doing the missions for cash!

I do agree on one thing though, If you are thinking of playing the game the Trading way to get the longivity out of it. Sorry guys but you choosing the wrong game for that. Get X-TENSION by Egosoft if you want more lastability!

I do think you guys are being a bit harsh on him though. Because after 4 days here. I have just about everything, and also play the game no more. I give you all about 2 weeks before your all saying the same thing!

Most of you here have not played the "X" games by Egosoft. Which I'm comparing this game to. That game lasted me months, and I never accually completed all the game missions because I found them too hard. So comparing 4 days to that leaves very little to boast about this game!

It took me around 12 hours of play to beat and thats because I was home a lot thinks to a sick kid. But you dont have to have very heavy fighters to beat the game I did it in a Hawk light fighter that cost what around 20,000.

Yeah sound's like all he has done his the storyline stuff is all in about 13 hrs! The Fl program go's on for a long time their still places you need to go exploer and ton's of diffrent mission's it all depend's on what you wont to do! Happy Hunting!

Post Wed Mar 12, 2003 4:11 am

It took me a little less than 13 hours to beat the game. I'm really good at space games.

well i have played the single player and multi player of this game and i have to say that after 1 week of flying around in almost all the different ships there are...and seeing all 52 systems in single player and 44 systems in multiplayer i am truly mad i paid money for this crap! i have to agree that after level 18 in single player all thats left is to explore...who really wants to go explore by themselves....thats what multiplayer is for and after you have mapped every system every jump hole everything in the game its old i find people who just hang around newyork systems just to kill the noobs that come off the planet! theres nothing in the game after you see it all and theres not that much to see...i hope that there is going to be a BIG patch for this game for both single and multiplayer! And if there isnt i feel that it is important that people dont waste there money on this game...it doesnt take that long to see it all! like i said ive only had the game for a week! and have seen everything there is too see! who cares about hearing all the rumours or playing all the same missions over and over again! it was fun while it lasted but...it didnt last long at all ..at least not long enough for my money.

if you run you only die tired

*scratches his head* Please tell me...what game IS still fun for weeks and months after you've seen it all? I mean...I've played a lot of space games and a lot of first person shooters, etc... And...once you've finished a game and seen all there is to see, yeah - it's over. But I can't think of any games that DON'T end like this. Some games have some randomness to them for replay value, but so does this (even if it's a little flawed by the lack of variety in missions). So if you can name some games that never end and always stay interesting, I'd be very curious to see that list.

As far as seeing everything, have you looked at the history for every planet and base? Read all the news? Read about all the items that are tradeable and what they're used for in the universe? Read about every faction? Landed on all the bases (even the unfriendly ones where you have to work at getting access to it)? Found all the derelict ships and pillaged them for weapons? Tried all the ships? I find it hard to believe that you've done EVERYTHING you possibly can in the game. Granted, some of these things might not be fun for you, but that doesn't mean they aren't for some other people.

I had a Canadian mate FedEx it over to me, so I've been playing it for a few days now. I'm quite happy with it, I'm not doing masses of exploring, but I am having a look around. I'm slowly building my finances up and getting better weapons etc. In short, I'm just enjoying the game for what it is, an easily accessible space flight game.

Sure, I'm disappointed its not MM, but I guess pressures for a release put paid to that and maybe we'll see that in an add-on later. I think the next few months at DA will be taken up with patching and bug fixing, then they can start to work on the next thing for it. I was really hoping for MM in a persistent universe, but I'm not going to hold a grudge because it didn't happen this time round.

If you want a long campaign, then perhaps X-Wing Alliance would be more you thing? But that's a linear game, I like the openess of FL, thoughI do think that not having a branching storyline is a let down, but hey, its the first effort for this one... until the add-on pack comes along, I'll happily pootle around and just enjoy a good effort for what it actually is, not what I personally wanted it to be.

I think there should be a BIG expansion pack where they include new campaign missions, new ships, weapons, and the like, but also allow you to travel on the surface of the planets in maybe some viehicles , but at least more than a bar and on or two shops. Also i think they should make more interesting non-campaign missions that arent just the same "go here and kill ships" or "go here and get/destroy this cargo." u should also be able 2 join factions.
