IMP, I hate to break the news to you:
Unless you are out of money and consequently not able to buy diamonds, you are loosing money while mining for them.
Your profit from mining itself can not be higher than the lowest sales price along your route to Leeds, which is 308 at Freiburg Station, Stuttgart.
So try splitting your mining/travelling expedition in two steps and calculate profit per minute for each step:
1. Mining and travelling to Freiburg.
Time: 15+8=23 minutes.
Profit: 60*308=18480 credits
Profit per minute: 18480/23=803 credits per minute
(Can be somewhat increased by using the direct jump hole between Dresden and Stuttgart).
2. Travelling from Freiburg to Leeds:
Time: 20 minutes
Profit: 60*(1275-308)=58020 credits
Profit per minute: 58020/20=2901 credits per minute
Not difficult to see which one of the two steps you should avoid.
Notes:
1. I have not clocked the actual travel times, but 3½-4 minutes from mid system to mid system is usually fairly accurate.
2. I assume your ship carries max. 60 units of cargo. If it carries more, the difference between step 1 and 2 will increase even further.
3. I have not included return trip in the calculation. If you could not make money on the return trip, the difference between step 1 and 2 would decrease. However, this is not an issue, since you can make approx. 1500 credits per minute during the return trip to Freiburg.
