Diamonds for Free!

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Diamonds for Free!

Go to the Dresden System and fly to the "Schwefelnebel" and shoot at the floating Asteroids. Many of them will give you Diamonds! I've collected 60 Diamonds within 15 Minutes

You'll get more than $1k per Diamond in some Systems (i.e. in Leeds)

If you are diamond-crazy, try Omega 11. Go as close to the Red Giant as you can and shoot asteroids. You will also find wrecks.

During my travels, I have learned that being optimistic doesn't always help, hey, the light at the end of that tunnel may be an oncoming train.

You will also find wrecks

And if you aren't careful, you will also become one of those wrecks!!

We don't really own this place, just break a few arms if we have to - Bounty Hunter Mitch Murphy, Bonn Station.

oru can just attack a transport that carries like 200 of them

Doing missions in Omega 11 will also get you diamonds off the ships you kill.

Doing one mission (low level like, 20ish) gets me from 10 to 100 diamonds, it really depends on how many ships I fight.

Try the jumpholes in the independent systems between Liberty and Rheinland. Lots of Unioners ships that transport diamonds.

IMP, I hate to break the news to you:
Unless you are out of money and consequently not able to buy diamonds, you are loosing money while mining for them.

Your profit from mining itself can not be higher than the lowest sales price along your route to Leeds, which is 308 at Freiburg Station, Stuttgart.

So try splitting your mining/travelling expedition in two steps and calculate profit per minute for each step:

1. Mining and travelling to Freiburg.
Time: 15+8=23 minutes.
Profit: 60*308=18480 credits
Profit per minute: 18480/23=803 credits per minute
(Can be somewhat increased by using the direct jump hole between Dresden and Stuttgart).

2. Travelling from Freiburg to Leeds:
Time: 20 minutes
Profit: 60*(1275-308)=58020 credits
Profit per minute: 58020/20=2901 credits per minute

Not difficult to see which one of the two steps you should avoid.

Notes:
1. I have not clocked the actual travel times, but 3½-4 minutes from mid system to mid system is usually fairly accurate.

2. I assume your ship carries max. 60 units of cargo. If it carries more, the difference between step 1 and 2 will increase even further.

3. I have not included return trip in the calculation. If you could not make money on the return trip, the difference between step 1 and 2 would decrease. However, this is not an issue, since you can make approx. 1500 credits per minute during the return trip to Freiburg.
