Racing Hovis - and getting my butt kicked

Any advice on how to win against Hovis in the race. If I go full speed, I miss the turns, if I take it easy he wins. Damn, I hat racing levels!!!!

press ****+W at the beginning to activate cruise engines, then never never slow down.

wow, someone lost to Hovis? hit cruise and follow the navs, they lead to every game. Avoid the roids.

If I try to race using cruise I keep bumping into the gates or missing them ...................... Maybe I have to play with the mouse settings.

Sounds like it - you should be able to take the turns pretty tightly without actually hitting them - apparently he makes a mistake around 3/4 of the way through so just keep up and overtake on the finishing stretch (thats how my race turned out)

I had problems with clydesdale (freighter) so I sold it and bought that light fighter on the ship where you talk to Hovis. It was really easy with it, even made a few loops at the last ring cause I thought I already finished it (I didn't :p) and I still won. The trip afterwards in a light fighter was a bit harder though heh.

ownage is such a capitalistic term.

Use the mouse flight. Normally I use WASD, but for that mission, the mouse was a lot easier.

You can buy the Crusader at the Battleship. It can easily win the race. It's a pretty good ship and will last you until you reach Kusari space.
