Been there done that...now what??

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

The game is not short! No, 25 hours isn't short and that's at least as much as you'll play the first time through.

Easy...Yes. Now I know that to get 2.5 millions you only need the German Freighter and patience, but that's AFTER I beat the game ;-P.

And well, Unreal 2 went down in 7 hours, Generals in 12 (I even played some skirmish to get the stupid medals), Splinter Cell in 10, let's face it, Freelancer is LONG for today's standarts.

@BlueTrin

Sent me a screnshot in game of your F8 stats. I'd love to see them. BTW, your not the first person to claim this bull, and no one has yet been brave enough to support their claims by providing this simple proof.

Post Mon Mar 03, 2003 12:36 am

For the record, I've emailed everyone that has claimed they've finished the game in 10 or 20 hours requesting a F8 screenshot to prove their proclamation. Not one person has come forth with their proof...not one. I quess when it comes to backing up their claims they just don't seem as motivated to do that as they were to come on here and post on our forum about it. Wonder why?

...kids....(rolls eyes)

they may be exaggerating on time played, since just covering all the stations, planets, etc. in all the systems takes alot of time. but i am at the same point. i'm at 58 hours myself. my rank is 29.. lvl as they call it. lvl doesn't mean much to me. it is based on your equipment's worth and your credits. i don't think anything else factors in. i have a sabre, 3 class 10 weapons (more is way below efficient energy usage), and i've covered almost every system. just haven't found a 2nd unknown, but doubt i'll take the time. just because u can't buy a game in a store doesn't mean it's not available.

ok but.. you only visited 28 systems and didn't get too high in the ship department.. part of the argument is seeing "everything" and not having anything to do.. like if u play multiplayer. not just finishing the single player story.

For the record, I did recieve a screenshot showing the SP portion of the game as being pretty well along in 15 hours.

Freelancer wasn't designed to be only about the SP experience. My contention all along was to ensure people know the difference between finishing a game and actually seeing all there is to see in Freelancer. Sure, we had some people run through the game fast in SP during testing, but that was a focused pursuit and they didn't even see a quarter of what the game has to offer in that run.

Freelancer has so much content it's almost mindboggling. Privateer has many more systems than Freelancer, but not near the content. If seeing the sights, checking out the hidden gems, landing at a lot of the stations mapping jump holes isn't your idea of fun, then Freelancer probably isn't going to knock your socks off. But if that sounds like fun, then this game has it all.

You can even play MP without connecting to the internet and experience just about everything the game has to offer but interactions with other live pilots (which is sort of cool in it's own right). Can't say that about a lot of other games that are either on-line or stand alone..they are either one or the other.

To each their own, I'll back off my accusations a bit, but please quantify your claims if you're going to post a topic titled "done everything, I'm bored is there anything else to do now" type of things. Thers is a lot to do in this game, but it just may not be what turns YOU on. Say la vie.

"You can even play MP without connecting to the internet and experience just about everything the game has to offer..."

How? I looked and I couldn't find that option.

you also have to admit that theres very little high end game. once you get one of the major fighters everything else is simple. you keep stating go everywhere see everything. but honestly theres very little motivation to do this. why anyone wants to fight through all those battles just to find some out of the way waystation that sells water and oxegen is beyond me.

the game is fun up untill youve gotten one of the major fighter ships. (starting around the hammerhead) once you have those theres very little in the game that can hurt you.

i just played the entire weekend with 7 people on lan and we played about 31 hours in 3 days between 4 of us when we got one guy into a humpback and ran engine parts from houston to new berlins "the ring" and ran diamonds back.. after 4 trips we had enough to equip all of us with hammerheads.

after that we started hitting all the bases and systems we could find simply to get em on our maps hoping that there was something that wasnt labled that would give us a challenge. needless to say we put all the visible systems on our charts and started working on some that were not initially visible but so far its gotten boring. no one has been able to challenge us or even hurt us.

oh well back to exploring the rest of the systems hopefully something will come along. by the way.. all the editing thats being done. i cant wait to see what some of the communities population turns out.

Freelancer is worth buying its a very good game but its going to be the community mods that makes it a success or failure. heres looking to the mod teams that are working on what we all want!

Be careful, it sounds an awful lot like you had a good time playing all those hours with your firends.

Post Mon Mar 03, 2003 7:24 am

stinger i did have a good time and it was worth one weekends fun with my friends. but there was all ways that nagging "somethings missing" in the back of my mind that there had to be more than what we are doing.

as i stated the game is worth buying i think that in 6 months we wont reconize freelancer as it is now. the mod community will be cranking out highend mods that give us what we are all wanting. but as of now ive had my fill of the game and have no desire to login simply to find a vague base somewhere that offers more food or water.

Post Mon Mar 03, 2003 7:28 am

I can respect that...and you're right. The modding community might just take this to another level.

the point is not that it does not make fun first, the point is that its damn fast over.
the long time motivation is missing.

I think in clan play things change abit.
at least in wars are alot more things to consider, and timing comes important like hell.

but for the normal game, there is not much left really fast, enemys are pathatic, you have anyway nearly none, and multiplay without pvp offers not much options ... and with pvp it offers still not much options, without a fresh server.
