Are there any stable WormHoles that allow you to go to other

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Sorry if this has already been asked... Also any RingWorlds in FL???

There are well over 100 jump holes in FL. Every single system has at least one, but many have multiple. Each one takes you through to another system and can be a very fast way of moving aorund form system to system...much faster than using trade lanes.

There's a GREAT idea, we could have races in FL!!!

Am I missing something ? From since when have trade lanes allowed system to system travel ?

That race idea isn't bad since all ships inherently have the same speed.

a little FreeLancer Encyclopedia:
Cruise engine: Fast Drive system on your ship that allows speeds up to 3 times as fast as the normal engine, but no weapons use.
TradeLane: Innersystem "Highway" between planets, very fast, but confined to a specific route.
Jump Gate: Artificially built Gate to allow traffic to another system
Jump Hole: Natural phenomenon (usually somewhere in a nebula, gas cloud or asteriod field) that allows traffic to another system.

Trade lanes offer a fast way of moving within a system. Jump holes and jump gates allow travel between systems. You have it right, I can see where I might have confused you a bit, sorry. If I was racing you, and you use only trade lanes to travel within a system from one jump gate to another (to go to another system), chances are I might get to another system faster using only jump holes to travel from system to system. The fastest way to travel from one system to another on the other side of the galaxy is a combination of both trade lanes and jump holes.

It depends on where we're located in the galaxy of course. Not all systems have trade lands as a means of travel within the system.....

Thanks RubberEagle, that was a very usefull post.

About the races, thats a very good idea.

So...how do you keep track of where all these "jumpholes" are? Is there some sort of map or chart available to the pilot?

Post Sun Feb 09, 2003 5:25 pm

Most jump holes are automatically mapped in your Neural Net once you ident them (get close enough to have then show up on your HUD). They are then viewable on your NAV map.

Not all jump holes are identifiable tho, keep this in mind!

Right...so thats why they say you need to Explore

1.So inherently all Jump holes lead to somewhere ?

2.Are all jumpholes one way tickets or can you back-track through one or a little of both ?

BTW,RB & Stinger thanks for the explanations so far.

1. yes all jumpholes lead to somewhere
2. a jumphole has 2 ends, you can go back and forth as much as you like

@Stinger:

You said most jumpholes are automatically mapped if you get withing a certain range yet:

Not all jump holes are identifiable tho, keep this in mind!

Does that mean that some jumpholes are forever unmappable, even though you traversed the jumphole, and that you have to take notes/make physical maps to track their location?

It might just be a bug, but some will just remain "Unknown Object" and won't show up on the nav map.

Post Mon Feb 10, 2003 4:21 am

judgement call on this...woooosh..off to spoiler forum.

The holes that are named "Unknown Obejcts" are still mapped on ur nav as unknow objects, i have found three of them sofar.. Two led to unknown systems.. It regisrered as unknown even when i was in it. this was Nomad systems, and one was a jump to sigma-19. Im sure there are more "unkown" out there though.
