Announce: New Freelancer Advanced Walkthrough

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Announce: New Freelancer Advanced Walkthrough

Yesterday I put this announcement in the "Discussion" forum, but I guess it more properly belongs here. Anyhow,

I've just completed a walkthrough of the SP campaign, which exhaustively explores the side-play possible within the confines of the main campaign.

This is not a walkthrough in the normal sense, but a complete exploration of the game. Included is an Appendix on finishing the game in a Starflier.

Please find this work at:

http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~breslin/fr ... hrough.txt

I hope you enjoy.

I'll be submitting it to gamefaqs after I hear back from you kind folks.

Did you beat it in a Starflier? How on earth do you do it, Yeah I know its in the section, but how many tries did it take, man. You're impressive, and Ok in my book.

The Starflier Campaign Walkthrough is only an appendix to the Sideplay Walkthrough, and I expect the latter might more intriguing to a wider audience. Personally, I had much more fun exploring all the possibilities and limits of the SP campaign, than I had in beating the game in a Starflier. (But ya, it was cool.)

Also please note that I'm not the first to beat the game in a Starflier. I'm certain there's at least two others, and probably many more. The Find A Job "badge" (my sig) was a fellow Starflier's idea. (Recall that "Find A Job" is the final objective in the SP campaign.)

There are two main challenges with the Starflier Campaign: figuring out the correct strategy (and loadout), and flying the ship. I try to address both these problems in the walkthrough, although of course the latter is your ballgame.

Please take a look at the walkthrough, and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Oh, and as far as how many tries it took: it's hard to say, as I didn't keep track of how many times I died. But let me describe my experience with the most difficult Starflier mission. The first time I attempted the Starflier Campaign, I incorrectly concluded that it was impossible due to the time constraints on Mission 12. Once I learned that someone else did it, I went back and figured out the correct strategy, which took more experimenting. But even with the correct strategy, it's the most difficult mission, and I expect I died about 30 times in that mission alone, if not more.

The three ships which waste this other Freeport 7 survivor in the California system drop the "Rowlett's Revenge" turret, if you manage to destroy them. I usually find them pretty easy to beat; just switch your countermeasure dropper to automatic and blast them out of the sky.

Now how to you switch the CM dropper to automatic. I had no idea that was available.

Just click on it in ur weapons hud, that way every time you fire it'll launch one
I think that's what he meant

and like a phoenix i'll return from the ashes....with the help of the re-spawn key

Thanks, Preacher0815, for the correct strategy on avenging Brandon Rowlett.

I've updated the walkthrough. This is really a great improvement; thanks!

Please let me know if I'm missing anything else.

Well, this knowledge is like public domain, so thank you for specifically thanking me Oops, should have made it more clearly that I was referring to breslin's post right above mine...

An enhancement for the New London <-> Cadiz run: instead of unloading the light arms at Cadiz, travel one system further and unload them at Leon Base in the Omega-41 system. It more than makes up for the additional time spent and the cash needed for repairs because of the radiation in O-41. Depending on how much you're used to this route, you can make up to 2,000,000 per hour.

If the Corsairs are hostile towards you, and if reputation with Interspace, Gateway and the Bretonia authorities isn't too bad, try shooting a Gateway or Interspace depot in New London. That should make the Corsairs neutral towards you.

Hi, everybody!
I've got this strange problem, that i don't no how to solve.
After completing the final mission, with the Nomad city, I got stuck with a level-up. My current worth is 120000 credits, but to reach the next level I have to be 64000 credits. How is it possible? Do I have to dropp my worth? If yes, then how?

Post Wed Jul 20, 2005 2:48 pm

It's going good. I got a couple good steers from Preacher0815. And I made contact with Bosson (the trade route guru). He's volunteered to test the trade-route stuff in the walkthrough.

Please let me know if you're playing through the walkthrough challenges.

Great piece of work..

Well, I've been doing a similar play-through, although I'm not a trading fan so I've skipped that bit. Currently level 16, at Kyoto. Only 1.3 million credits though.

I did try killing the Rhineland ships in mission 7 before they cloak, but even point blank with a full gun setup they don't take damage before re-cloaking.

Found that instead of getting the Luger Type A before the final set of missions, you can always go to Cali base and get the Pyros Type III, it does even more damage and uses less energy.

As for the side missions.. killing GMG Eagles in Omicron Beta is the hardest
I've done yet. Especially when the Outcasts you were relying on for help get themselves wiped out. Centurions don't count, they don't turn enough to threaten anyone; I'd reccomend that that part of the challenge is 'Get a cargo of alien organisms from Planet Kurile to Atka Research Station, killing at least
8 Centurions on the way'.

Doing a tour of Omega-5 when both the Corsairs and Hessians hate you is
fun in a Drake.

@Vkit
Welcome to TLR! I gotta say that a LOT of people get confused with that. The 64000 credits that it says you need to next level means how much MORE you need. Say you complete a 5000 credit mission, it will now say that you need 59000 credits to next level.
That problem is probably the most confusing aspect of the game.
