endless tunnel

endless tunnel

I seem to have found an endless tunnel in the Northeast corner of the Omnicron Gamma 'unknown' system. You get there by cruising past the star (unknown object), pointing your ship at the end of the 'tunnel', hitting the cruise, and walking away from your 'puter for, like, hours. I left the star selected, and use the turret view once in a while to check my progress. So far I'm a little over 11,ooo K away from the star, and it has shrunk from view completely. Everything else in the system is listed as 'far' in the nav map thingy.

My question - since I'm obviously not the first to find this (I can't be, right?), is there an end to this tunnel? is there anything down there to run into?

hehe - I did that when I first found that system.

There is nothing there, its just a 'background graphic' so to speak

Watch out for the nomads on the way back though

I see. Thanks. BTW, how 'endless' is this endless tunnel? I've already given up, but I want to know out of curiosity . . .

The game simply repeats certain areas when you continue to fly. there is nothing out there, i don't think the nomads even go out that far....the game makers figured that some noob would want to go and see where it finished so the just 'looped' the system, but you won't end up where you started because it simply goes on forever......actually i think you die after a while, hit an invisable wall or something....good luck anyway...

If your level is high enough it's a good place to collect nomad cannons: thay can be useful..

I made a speed mod, and set my engines to "hyperdrive", which pretty much enables you to fly at about 10,000,000 k a second, and i just kept going, although my distance away from the planet came up on screen as about 40 digits....
