If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Nomad weapons

Sorry to be a bit spoilish, but where is the nomad energy blaster/cannon ?

Post Wed Feb 16, 2005 10:20 pm

Omicron Alpha Jumphole 4F => Unknown Jumphole
Omicron Gamma Jumphole 2F => Unknown Jumphole

Both lead to a system populated with Nomads. You need to be lvl 34 or higher for them to drop weapons. They drop the Nomad Cannon and Nomad Blaster.

Yep. And basically each group of 4 nomads drops 1 weapon, if any.

Post Fri Feb 18, 2005 11:38 am

It's not group based. There's a 10% chance of any Nomad ship dropping a nomad weapons. Which means you could get one from all 4 ships in a group, but the chances of that are very slim.

Ah OK, thanks for the info.

Tat's all good and nice, but how do you keep from getting blasted into tiny bit's of polorised atoms in the proses? Just use alot of Bats and Bots? Bugger is that the two planets in unknown2 don't sell the stuff. Aw well...

Evasion, evasion, evasion. Don't rely on shields and armor to save your hide; use your thruster. Pulse it when you aren't firing your weapons; this makes you change speed rapidly and causes most of the enemy fire to miss you. Maintain speed only when you are ready to fire. "big punch" weapons with a high refire rate are highly recommended; try out the Skyblast B or Kraken 2 class 9 weapons for maximum damage per second.

Also, wait until your shields are about to go down before using your shield batteries, and wait until you are on the verge of death before touching the nanobots. Batteries and Bots replace 300HP or either armor or shielding, but you will still use a whole Battery or Bot if you have only taken 100 HP of damage. Using Batteries and Bots immediately is inefficient and effectively reduces your potential repair capabilities. The general rule of thumb is that the longer you wait to use your Batteries and Bots, the less of them you will have to use in the long run to repair the same amount of total damage. Just don't wait too long, or you'll have worse problems than wasted repair goodies.

Better yet, learn how to fight while in engine kill, using only your thruster to change course and speed. The faster you go, the less you get hit. Run away if you have to- there's no shame in it, and Nomads don't carry cruise disrupters.

oh how i strongly beg to differe.
ive seen plenty o' nomads charging up... something...

and then theres there weapons, the main problem is, in my oppinion, that theyr projectile speed is very high... IF they manage to get a direct aim at you, chances are you WILL get hit...
and since there so d*mn devestation... better carrie a whole load of nanos and batters, and maybe even a sabre with some CODES onboard

i can only say im good, nothing more...

Thanx, I think I'm getting the hang of it, problem was I had a full Titan so dodging wasn't exactly easy

Anywho, I'm still having trouble getting any nomad weapons. I'm lv 33, with 1.2 mill net worth and the nomads still won't drop anny guns. I've probably killed about 20 or so.

I Think you have to be lvl 34/35 for them to drop.

Great Guns, as they use no energy to fire from you systems.

*clamps mouth shut with a vise and smacks head on table repeatedly*

I will NOT rant about Nomad weapons again...I will NOT rant about Nomad weapons again...I will NOT...

DTX, you are thinking of Cruise ENGINES, not Disrupters. Nomads do not use Disrupters in post-SP gameplay (though in a few cases DURING SP, they have been observed to). They carry neither the launchers nor the ammunition.

As for evasion...you can evade anything. It's all a matter of getting that half-second twitch reflex. Does that mean you won't take any hits? No. But enough shots will miss that you should be able to survive each patrol of 4 Nomads with little or no damage at all. Thruster pulsing helps greatly, since speed variation changes the lead distance. If you cut your speed while a shot is en route, the shot will most likely miss. When you hit the thruster again a quarter second later, the next shot will miss- and so on and so forth. There are only two types of Nomad weapons available; one fires three times every second and one fires four times every second. Time your pulses accordingly, and you won't take more than a few hits in the whole fight. That takes a bit of practice, yes, but once you get the technique down it's a piece of cake.

Remember...if you pick the NON-radiactive area to fight Nomads in, you have all the time in the world to kill them. Take your time and focus on evasion. Take a shot only when something crosses in front of you. Only go on the offensive when you have one of them damaged heavily- like any other enemy, they will bug out if they are in a near-death state for too long without being destroyed.

Also, using a smaller, more agile ship might give you the edge you need in evasion- A Drake or Banshee can carry around plenty of firepower and still maintain enough armor to take a few hits and enough agility to evade most shots. Not everyone is suited to a particular ship type- don't always look to the big, bad VHF to solve all your problems. If you die a lot in one ship, it may be time to look for another.

@ NukeIt's italics: lol, very nice. You could probably post that somwhere in the OT-Forums too

Thanx for all the help, I'm getting the hang of it now. I'd love to use a LF rather than a VHF, really, But It just isn't balanced enough Now the only problem is surviving 20 odd bounty hunters in a slow Titan. Almost got me one time. But I've actually switched from class 10 weapons to class 9 weapons. I like it when they shoot faster, gives me more control. Might still go for the Nomad Weapons, but only as a colector's Items, just so I can say, I have them too

I used an eagle, very agile for a VHF,a nd capable of carrying noamd weapons, which are greta for hunting noamds (ironically). Just evade likd hell and use the best shields if u do get hit. Nomads also posses weps u cannot salvage. They do MASSIVE amounts of damage (like 2000 something, I believe) but have a refire of 1. NEVER STOP MOVING! aLso, noamd weps. drain no energy, have high damge, and a decent refire rate.
