Help with Benton Station

Ok I gave up on trying to make Star Lancer work and finally bought Freelancer yesterday.. I got to level 6 (and man did my wrist hurt! Who's the idiot that didn't include a joystick option?) Anyway I'm level 7 now and stuck at Benton Station in the Liberty light fighter with two MKII Drails and two MK III Justice lasers. I got no shield batteries left from the previous fight and get taken out as soon as the mission starts in 3 secs!!! I've replayed this about 8 times and really sick of the overkill.

Is there a way around this? Can I lower the difficulty level for this ONE mission and have it affect gameplay until I get to Bretonia? Do I have to mod the game file to boost the ship I am in? (changing it back of course after ward)...

Any ideas?

Aside from that I really enjoy this game and shouldn't have been so prejudiced against it cause of Microsoft... Of course the lack of making your own missions sucks but you can't have everything...

um, yeah.

got to the Mydocuments/Mygames folder on your harddrive. In one of the sub-folder there, theres a file called perfoptions.ini. in that file theres a line that says MissionDifficulty=1.0. Just change the 1 to a 0. Boom your invincible.... When you want to get hurt again, just change it back.

I really hate to have to do that, but this was my first time through and I was just following the storyline as it happes for fun (and not taking a billion side missions or going UBER tactics, best ship you can get best weapons, best trades ect... besides I have no clue yet what places got those things. I tried to make a trade run and it wouldn't let me jump out of California!!!! That messed me up as I was BARELY holding my own against those rogues and lane hackers! I was finally relieved when Juni called and let me out of the system (though I already had all the codes as a reward many missions ago so I shuldn't have been held prisoner in system)...

On with the Story!!!!!

No Prob Dragon. Btw, I had a problem with SL too. My USB mouse kept making the thing crash. Couldn't make it past mission 2.

I would suggest the best thing to do is load an earlier saved game. Then make a bit more coin & get a better ship. Curaco has a nice one.

It is hard to fly with turkeys when you soar with eagles.
