Advice for smugglers

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Advice for smugglers

Alright, my guess is that everyone's already figured this out but i'll post it anyway just in case anyone hasn't.

If some pesky police types fly up to you and ask to scan your cardamine filled cargo hold, simply jetison the loot whilst they're saying 'mind if i scan your hold?' and you should pass the scan with a grin. Then just scoop up your contraband and go on your merry way.

You'd think the random release of cargo would raise a few eyebrows on the part of the police but apparently not.

thats good... sometimes when they ask i do nothing and dock with the tradelane by the time the figure out what happened, i am far from there reach

thats ages old, here is what i do, a cruise all the way up to the docking ring, the only time i get scanned is upon leaving after selling up.

or you could just have the 'nearly invulnerable shield' on and blast away at the police whilst watching your kills go up

yeah but me being a star smuggler, thats just boring and cheating. the trick is to get in and out without being stopped

Avoid the trade lanes and use jump holes, like a real smuggler would. Of course, then you get attacked by pirates ... not the police!

i can use trae lanes and jump gates, and not get caught or attacked

You're just lucky then

Post Mon Oct 11, 2004 9:07 am

luck does not exist, there is cuase and effect , i dont believe in luck, i am just a darn good smuggy

Getting away from sniffy cops is the easiest thing in the world to do. Trade Lane ends are so close to planetary docking rings that you don't have time to go hostile before you can dock, and even if you do, no house weapons should be a threat to any decent pilot.

But that's an interesting tip about dropping the cargo during the scan. Just so long as there aren't any other B-key happy players around that hit the button at the first sign of the loot symbol.

My favourite way to escape is still to stick on my 8000 speed cruise engines and be halfway across the system before they finish.

Not that I ever have illegal cargo anyway

Post Mon Oct 11, 2004 4:26 pm

I just lock em, fire of 2 sweepers and 3 firestalkers, afterburn to the nearest tradelane and before anybody else even starts shootin' i'm speedin away at 2500. and i must admit i am a bit old fashined and thats why i just kill em.

No point, just press cancel and dock as normal. Or dock with the window open. It takes about 15 seconds for the house police to respond. (or a criminal asking for dropped cargo too because criminals don't warn you when you're scanned)
