Well, it's unknown because...no one has discovered it. Of course. The Nomads were beating you up? What ship do you have now and what level are you? Yes, there are items of interest (like those 2 planets you should have read about in the above posts). But they're not all that interesting past the first few amusing moments, in my opinion. The backgrounds are awesome though. Wait...you discovered an Unknown out of pure luck? So how much did you run around looking for those?

There is insane amounts of...debris around the Jump Hole to the ape/robot system (or do both Unknowns have those?). So people went in there, were slaughtered by Nomads, tried to jump out, and blew up? Or can you find Nomads on the Omicron side of the hole as well?

Where does one find a Nomad gunboat? Or would that entail a spoiler? (as if there aren't a lot in this thread already...)

Yes there are wrecks outside of both unknown JHs(the outcasts purposely place thier ships there, it is a graveyard for them). And you can also fight nomads on the omicron side of the JHs, not worth it tough, same numbers but you have to deal with the nebula blocking your vision and potentially dealing with rad damage(the unknown in Alpha also has rad damage so this point could be moot)

And there are no Nomad Gunboats or battleships in any unaltered servers.

the corsair fighters that wait for you to loot them just next to unknown jumphole are kid's ships, you can get the story if you chat with corsairs in crete, there is also a rumor about "strange ships" in crete's bar
