Nomad weapons?

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

"Beware the ides of March!" Ok. Seriously, cloak mods are considered forbidden topics. Any such mod would be very, very abused. As such, avoid the topic.

@kuja plz remove the cork from somewhere you've too much pent up gas.

And you remove the cork where your intelligence is supposed to be .......
At least SOME players see that Nomad weapons are bad in multi .....

Do the math, folks.

While you can do more damage in a one-second salvo with six Skyblast B cannons and a turret, those weapons gobble energy like Pac-Man on the dots. The same goes for the special codename weapons, which also suffer from a low fire rate.

Meanwhile, Nomad cannons can be fired continuously with no energy drain, doing only slightly less damage.

They may be game-legal, but I can understand why server admin might want to restrict or ban them altogether.

Just beacuse the nomad weapons have no energy drain doesn't make them perfect. a skilled pilot can easily beat someone with nomad weapons with a proper loadout. a skilled pilot can manage their shots and loadouts properly to have vertually no energy drain. in my sp game i have a sabre loaded with the most energy-hungry weapons, and i can easily manage them so i don't have energy drain. if you people are going to whine about weapons, then you really shouldn't be playing online. nomad weapons are open to everyone, and are just as fair as all weapons. i could say the same about dbs. they are alot better than say, justice MKIIIs. just beacuse a weapon is the best doesn't mean it's bad. if they took away the nomad weapons, then there'd be other weapons that are better, and people would whine about them. the circle continues and it ends up in a full communism, which is no fun for even a communist such as myself. so if you don't like being attacked with nomad weapons, then suck it up because they arent going away. i hate seeing posts whining about how one thing is better than the other. just because a weapon is the best doesn't make it unfair. if you think it isn't fair on mp, then load a sabre with 4, and see just how much fun it is to kill random things at your own whim. i suggest you all try it! so suck it up, wimps!

I can see both sides of this. Energy drain, to me, is no big deal. If you can fly very well, you can deal with some low-energy times. So with Nomad weapons or Level 10's, energy level still matters squat to me. Level 10's are uberweapons as well, so why aren't they banned, too? One can slaughter innocent newbies with 10's just as well as Nomad weaponry.

Then again, since some people DO care about energy drain and such things, Nomad guns may not be the greatest idea. You can afford to have higher-energy weapons and then fill in the rest with Nomad guns. That's a little unfair, I agree, as most low-energy weapons have low power (but high refire).

I like the idea of keeping Nomad weapons, but I don't run around and slaughter newbies. It's very, very easy to abuse the Nomad stuff, though...so I guess it depends on the server host's preference.

What, Nomad weapons are frowned upon in MP games? lol, obviously not by most players as on every server i've played they are widely used. Sure there is an advantage to having them, but not an advantage that would prevent another player that does not use them from beating a player that does.

if you people are going to whine about weapons, then you really shouldn't be playing online.

Take a wild guess at why I haven't played online for months now. And won't again until I find a server that not only bans them, but is modded so that no one can possibly get them. If that never happens, so be it, I'll stick to SP.

nomad weapons are open to everyone, and are just as fair as all weapons. i could say the same about dbs. they are alot better than say, justice MKIIIs.

How do you define "better?" That depends on what class ship you use. Justice III's are not the best weapon within their class, true, and you would be rather stupid to use them on a c10 ship. However, there are weapons in the same class(c3) that are more dangerous. Also, if you take a look, Justice III's drain very little energy- because they do very little damage. DB's do a truckload of damage, and use a truckload of energy. Nomad guns do a truckload of damage, yet they use less energy than the peashooter Justice III's. Get it yet? There is a directly proportional relationship between damage and energy- the more a weapon hurts, the more it drains. That even goes for missiles, as far as paying to replace them goes. But not for Nomad weapons.

just beacuse a weapon is the best doesn't mean it's bad.

When it makes any ship in the game not capable of using it less useful, and renders certain other weapons and tactics that would otherwise be effective useLESS, yes, they are bad. Bad for game balance, which is skewed enough in favor of higher class equipment.

if they took away the nomad weapons, then there'd be other weapons that are better, and people would whine about them.

There are always people who whine about nothing. No other weapon has the same advantage Nomad guns have without a significant drawback to go with it. Therefore, complaining about Nomad weapons being unbalanced is legitimate, whereas complaining about other weapons is not.

the circle continues and it ends up in a full communism, which is no fun for even a communist such as myself.

What in the bloody burning hell does communism have to do with weapons in a video game?

so if you don't like being attacked with nomad weapons, then suck it up because they arent going away.

I already do not play online anymore because of them. And I won't "suck it up" unless told to by someone with real authority(i.e. a moderator).

i hate seeing posts whining about how one thing is better than the other.

What, don't like the truth? Game balance is not a minor issue. A properly balanced game has longevity, while a poorly balanced game rarely survives as long.

just because a weapon is the best doesn't make it unfair.

We heard you the first time, no need to repeat yourself. You're wrong there, by the way.

if you think it isn't fair on mp, then load a sabre with 4, and see just how much fun it is to kill random things at your own whim. i suggest you all try it!

Been there, done that. It bored the hell out of me. Can't speak for others, but there's much more satisfaction in getting a kill with something you need to think more about using. I'm rather fond of mines and LFs for that reason.

so suck it up, wimps!

Well, to start, I CAN find them, and have no problems about doing so.
Also, have you ever been dock-camped ?.
I have, and if they have nomad weapons, It becomes a right pain to get away.
Those two comments show that you have BOTH not matured since coming to these forums.
I agree with all of NukeIt's point, and would also like to add that if everyone uses Nomad Weapons, there is no strategy involved in dogfighting another ship.
None at all.

Nomad weapons in my opinion seem to be a very hot topic. I play different games online and I have been dock camped and have seen people camp at respawn points in different games. It is another reason why I have slowly stopped playing online. Playing online with human players is and was the draw when multiplayer first started. The "art" of camping in an area with superior weapons just to up your frag count, in my humble opinion, is a lazy way of advancing in levels. The use of Nomad weapons in this "tactic" makes it even more unsavory. Finally, when I play a game online, I want to expand the experience of the game. If I spend my whole time respawning because some one is camping there, I can not experience the benifits of online play. If ths happens to your average nOOb, who is experiencing online game play for the first time, it could turn them off to playing online. What ends up happening then, is you end up with a server of hard core gamers, and the gameplay stagnates.

Thank you for letting me get on my soap box..........

I have some level 10 weaponry now, and the Nomad guns actually don't seem as good as the 10's. I could kill a newbie just as easily with a level 10 as a Nomad weapon...but hey, I'm all for legal playing. Just putting in my $0.02.
