Corsiar Freighter

A flyable mp freighter with no client - side mods needed, heard a rumor about this being hidden in an ini file somewhere, anyone any ideas?

Not too likely...the Corsairs have no freighter. This rumor is more than likely the result of the existance of freighter shield classes higher than 7(the highest class of freighter available).

Another possibility is that you might be hearing about the Dromedary, which is a class 6 freighter found on Mactan base in Magellan. This, however, is a borderworlds freighter, the same series as the dagger, stiletto, and sabre. TLR has a complete listing of all pilotable ships in the game, found here: Click here

*edit* yet another possibility- this "freighter" may also be the TITAN, a VHF. It is listed as "co_freighter" in the FL files. While it may fly like one, it most certainly is not a freighter.

The Corsairs really don't need a frieghter. All thoes VHFs have 70 cargo space anyway and those are crawling all over the place. Those and the Centurions. Besides, the Corsairs get their money from mostly raiding and not trading. The only criminals I've seen with freighters are those that use the Mule.

Nukelt - What do you mean there's no N in Turrent?

The Titan is listed as "co_elite2" in the ini files. Don't forget that corporations like Ageira are listed as "co_" in the faction files, it could be something like an Armored Transport

I am familiar with the dromedary & titan, so know i mean neither of them.

As i say, it's a rumor of a hidden ship - you know, a secret (that i thought someone here may have heard of also) as information on it is harder to find than rocking - horse dung.
Mybe it IS just another one of those freelancer urban myths.

But i was just asking ))

interesting comment re the armoured transport though, as this is actually in - context. Essentially, i'm looking for ways to include a better freighter on The Lance server as i feel there is no balance between a career trader & career criminal (although Lello's npc's revenge does give a fairly level playing field - if anything, favouring trader's at low level). If a corsair freighter (of comparable or better standard then drom or humpy) were available, this would suit our needs pretty well. Client - side mods are not an option, though.

So, any ideas?

There's a mod called Evolutions, which includes a Corsair Freighter, called the Testudo. I doubt that's it though...

Corsair likes to refer to himself in the 3rd person.

The fact that the Corsairs don't have a freighter isn't what bothers me. What bothers me is that the civilian line, the only line designed primarily for civilian use, doesn't have one.

There is a Corsair Frieght in the INI

Post Sun Mar 21, 2004 2:10 pm

That's cause the civilian merchants use the freighters of their house. You could also consider the train and transports the civilian freighters.

Here's a thought: The Dromedary isn't used by the factions who use the other ships of the line. The Zoners - who use the drom - use the civilian line of fighters. On the other hand Outcasts, Hackers, Hessians and all of the others don't use freighters. It harms their maneuverability and stealth. This makes you think - Its the Civilian Freighter really the Dromedary, but only in the Border Worlds.

I suppose the larger freighters could be considered civilian freighters. But why would civilians use House-designed freighters, then fighters from a civilian line? Seems strange to me...

Corsairs just kill and tractor what ever falls out of their remains. Then they sell it. No freighter required. See Side Panel For Nutritional Facts
