anubis

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Actually, the Anubis handles exactly the same as most other heavy fighters. Here are the raw numbers:

nickname = or_elite (anubis)
mass = 150.000000
steering_torque = 43000.000000, 43000.000000, 230000.000000
angular_drag = 41000.000000, 41000.000000, 141000.000000
rotation_inertia = 8400.000000, 8400.000000, 8400.000000

nickname = rh_elite (valkyrie)
mass = 150.000000
steering_torque = 43000.000000, 43000.000000, 230000.000000
angular_drag = 41000.000000, 41000.000000, 141000.000000
rotation_inertia = 8400.000000, 8400.000000, 8400.000000

The falcon/eagles, on the other hand, handle better:

nickname = ge_fighter6 (eagle)
mass = 150.000000
steering_torque = 55000.000000, 55000.000000, 48000.000000
angular_drag = 41000.000000, 41000.000000, 35000.000000
rotation_inertia = 8400.000000, 8400.000000, 1000.000000

The most interesting ship, however, is the Sabre:

nickname = bw_elite2 (sabre)
mass = 75.000000
steering_torque = 43000.000000, 43000.000000, 63000.000000
angular_drag = 41000.000000, 41000.000000, 41000.000000
rotation_inertia = 8400.000000, 8400.000000, 2400.000000

If I had to guess (and that's what it would be, since I'm not absolutely certain how the numbers apply in-game) I would say that the eagle may turn better, but the sabre changes direction quicker.

Anubis is nothing more then a VHF with HF stats. When you look at it that way, it's an avarage HF with the best armour and a forward firing turret.

You were gone?

Edit: Damn spelling.

The Eagle takes the Anubis hands down as far as it's manueverability. Of the unmodded ships it's my favorite to use. The Anubis, however, is one of the sweetest looking ships in the game. It is somewhat disappointing that DA didn't give the order a VHF although some of the mods have fixed that. An Order light fighter would be pretty cool too.

wait wait wait. I have flown all 4 VHF's and I am proud to say that what chibajo posted is incorrect. The anubis handles way better than the eagle. Its an upgraded rheinland valkyrie.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmmm actually I feel that the Anubs turns slower than the eagle.

"upgraded rheinland valkyrie" Well the valkyrie is a higher level ship than the Anubis, so I doubt this is true. In fact I think the Anubis turns almost as poorly as the titan.

I have never opened the ship files, not that I don't wanna, but can't. My game is a bit different version than most. It's a remote game, so I don't have all the data in my HD. However from recently trying to beat sp mission in Anubis and flying in eagle most of the other time, I feel that eagle does turn better.

For 1100 credits, you cannot possibly say anything bad about the Anubis!
It's perfectly viable after the SP campaign has finished; I took it into the Border Worlds myself -- granted, with some difficulties, but I survived.
It's an ugly piece of junk made out of scrap metal to be sure, but for 1100 and loads of weapon ports, it's not too shabby.

I CAN say something bad about the Anubis ... well actually about the Order. They told me they would GIVE me an Anubis and whatever I needed. In fact, I had to buy the thing -- even if it was ridiculously cheap. I'm still waiting for my FREE Anubis.

The Anubis should be the best. do you know why!? cause Anubis is the Egyptian god. i dont remember reading about an eagle being a god

All I can say is that I was glad to dump my Anubis as soon as a finished the SP campaign and get a Falcon, which turns and handles much better. After trying out all the higher level ships than the Falcon, the only one that could match it for manoeuvrability was the Eagle.

So, to sum up, the Eagle handles as well (or very similarly to) the Falcon which handles better than an Anubis. If you don't believe me, try flying your last SP campaign mission in your Anubis, then fly off to Rheinland and grab a Falcon to compare.........................

To shabby? Hey, you'd better say that to my enginers!

Post Sat Mar 20, 2004 3:50 am

It seems people got upset about my remark of the Anubis not getting through the badlands.

I can't really remember how bad it was but I do remember that I got very upset with the Anubis because of these rocks.

I will take my Eagle to the badlands soon to check if it was only me not being used with the controls of a heavy fighter.

edit: removed unnecessary comment

hmmm... i know a better testing system... sigma-13, cruisespeed throught gaspocket fields... do u wanna follow me???

i did that lots off times... it's harder with bigger ships, i'm sure the anubis can do it, with some light damage, but the sabre/eagle/titan must slow down...
