My torps don''t miss

in the unmodded game all torps and missiles home in on enemies.

Starkillers and sunslayers have similar tracking capabilities.

I long ago gave up useing missles,and torpedos. What I found was that I was missing more times than not. Now this could be just my fault, or not. I've been a hit/dodge/run, repeat if necessary kind of guy.

Hey all-
Is it my imagination or do the Torps seem like they have little affect on capital ships? My Catapolt missles will bring those Nomad ships down faster it seems.... Whats the deal, at 1200 (or what ever the damage is) it should not take 20 hits to get a capital ship down to half... Has anyone else noticed this??

Ever seen my 2 paralyser 2 cannonball 2 FireStalker loadout
plus 1 torp and 1 turret
It's so sweet alpha-striking with it.
It eats up 7 rounds in 1 shot
Then again.
I did have to mod the server so you get 100 rounds of ammo per launcher or I'd run out too amazingly fast.

It also seems Drakes are the only things that can dodge this. ( I put it on an eagle)

both missiles and torps do more damage then listed, the bigger the speed difference between the torp (or missile) and the target, the more damage you do. both starkillers and cannonballs can kill an eagle with one blast (shield being down ofcourse) while the damage listed is significantly lower.
that's why the load out of deathspike is totaly useless, you dont need 2 cannonballs and 2 firestalkers to kill someones hull.
and if you shoot well, torps can hit a good dodging eagle.

If you fire a torp while usin thrusters, don't forget to dodge out the way, especially if your using sunslayers (minor spoiler there i think)...

i've got to agree with azar, energy weps do less damage but you don't have to worry about ammo, especially if the skirmish you are currently in might not be the last before you get to reload, nothing worse than downing a fleet of VHF's only to get k.i.a. limping home and out of missiles. plus the aim is down to you entirely. you just have to take the time to avoid incoming ordinance.

has any one played mech warrior black knight? --i must have spent a week in the hills with on the last mission picking off targets with long range energy weps-- same thing works in FL. slowly slowly catchy monkey

oh yeh! sorry to any long serving posters if some of these threads are repeating coverded ground but this is fresh material for newcomers to the forum.

Well I have to admint, my FL is un'mod'ed. I just started playing it... Load of fun, and I know you all have played it and mastered it and yada,yada,yada, but. For me, it's anew and cool. I just beat the game today. Blew the base up. Cool CGI stuff. But like I said, my FL is unmoded...
-Now as to the torp's.... are they just weak?????
When I was shooting the nomad ships I hit them with like , well a whole sh(~ load of torp's hardly any effect.... what gives?

Hey good info on the torps...Now you claim that energy weap do less dammage than the torps??? Realy? 2424.00 is teh hull damage and 1212.00 is the Sheild dammge. considering this.... IT shuold put a hurting on anything after at least 10 hits.....

Granted a nomad battleship has 69,300 hitpoint, that 10 torps should do something more than what I'm seeing.... Is it possible that in the mission games (story line missions) that the bad guys dont take dammage untill the story line calls for it???? You could shoot all day long but untill the story line catches up....nada in damage?
