My torps don''t miss

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

My torps don''t miss

I noticed that when fighting against npc ship I can fire in such a way that my torps don't actually miss.

I'm smacking titans like flies with that tactic.

How to do it:
1) Get a good torp
2) Activate engine kill while running away from the enemy ship
3) Turn around the ship to face them
4) Fire thruster and rush them
5) They'll welcome you you just have to greet them by firing the torp

Voila 1 dead titan Could be more, if you're fighting smaller ships. As they stay in formation, sometimes you could take out 2-3 in one smack. Watch out that you don't fire too close, or that you're not directly in line of fire. I have been killed by my own torps more than any other sp mobs.

Something I found out the hard way ...

Don't fire a torp and THEN hit the thrusters!

Or you could just fire a torp when passing by the enemy.

Although, there is a higher chance you'll miss that way.

Hey, that's pretty clever. I use the old cruise-kill tactic for things like the Alaska mission, where everyone's cruising away from the prison with so many enemies chasing them it looks like a nebula. Aim the ship right so it heads in the right direction, cut the engines, turn around, and thin out the cloud a little. Kinda cool-lookin'

Just wait, most ships, except nomads, they turn and charge, wait till they get close. If you do it right there is no way to miss. After firing, jam those thrusters and your shield will hold.

better way to use engine kill that is like this. When you have a swarm of enemies on you tail, kill engines and flip over, keep cruising away from them. But start targeting people and puting misiles and torps into the air. If the swarm is big you can't miss, someone jinks out of the way of their torp, and they end up in the way of another, and their torp hits someone else. Fire your guns into the pack indescrimantly for added effedt.

i'd thought you found out a way so the torps out-maneuver the AI. which is technically impossible. for now. unless you mod it to a turn rate of 50 and speed to 500.

and you also need to take down their shields. shields and armour serve as two different bodies so even if it has one unit of shield left the torp won't kill it. just takes out the shield. you're better off firing an Eraser to take out shields, turn around, fire off couple gun rounds then let go your torp for a facial treatment.

i have to agree with kimk, but i do have to say for mods like the crimosn temprial mod. fire two of thos missles at an targer and they do some good damage if you dont die with it. also just wondering does anyone know what file you edit to gain high lvl stats

i'm also with Kimk, but i do now mostly in fights with muliple players in a ffa (free-for-all) a close range missile use...

be carefull with it, just be sure your shiled is still up, and his shiled is down. rush in, while he is attacking an other, launch a missile while almost crash into his ship (best usefull is crash in his side, his side it toward you and he is flying forward). i used this on div servers, i toke down 2 ships in 2 runs while we did a free-for-all with me and 2 others... your shield will reduse, but stay online (i use the cannonball missile with it and had a class 8 graviton shielded eagle).

this is also doable with torps, but be aware that they may do a little more damage to your shield or don't take the player out totaly (some hull stays up).

also in a head-on, just before you launch the cannonball, just launch a hornet cruise disruptor, to disrupt his cruise disruptor... i toke this way also a few times my own ship down, so don't worry... crash, shield down, cannonball hit target, both died ... isn't it funny

is it just my starkiller torps that are seeker?

i fired one at a dagger escaping me with cruise. the dagger stopped cruising after abut 3k. the torpedo, which was chasing it, followed it through a turn and blew it up.
