chosimal welcome to the boards a good tip is to have a look through the older threads before posting as you can normally find an answer there

Give the guy a break peeps. he needs help, not your wise @ss replies.

The best thing you should do is get a light fighter. They have a cavalier for sale at the BS, wich is very able to fly the race with.

Second, be sure to kick in your cruise asap. Some like to use the thrusters for a few seconds to get ahead, but personnaly I don't think it makes a diff.

Third, fly your own race. Don't pay attention to Hovis, he's gonna stink it up anyway (No spoiler, just a heads up).

At the end the course is gonna be a little tougher, lotsa sharp turns, but with your Light Fighter, you'll be fine.

At the last strech, Hovis is gonna shoot at you. Drop a few CounterMeasures if you want, but don't (Don't ) return fire, because you'll loose. Just go ahead and finish and you'll win the race.

Last thing, Don't use the Goto (F2) command, because you'll stop when you arive at the waypoint (Major FL flaw imo).

These tips might help you. I hope they do. If not, there are a few people around who could help you with a little less subtile way of finishing the race, but I hope this does it.

I think the most helpful hint is:

Before you dock with the Hood to go look for Hovis, switch to cockpit view (Ctrl+V). That makes it a lot easier to fly through the hoops.
