Don't hit the rings. Go into cruise mode as soon as possible. Try to go through the rings on the inside of the turns. Just be patient. A light fighter maneuvers better if you have trouble with that.

The point is to not hit the gates while you are racing and at the end, Hovis will screw up and you will win. But I think you have to lose the first chance that he gives you and after he tells you he'll give you another chance then you do it. But I am not sure.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you're talking to me, I am a really good pilot, so by the time of the race, I flew a piranha or a cavalier.

You can win the race the first time. I won it first time and every time. There is one bad spot, a little past the halfway mark where you have to take a sharp turn to the left and then come back right. It's a breeze. I've done it in a Titan. Never tried it in a freighter.

How did you manage to get a Titan at that point in the storyline. It's impossible without mods. Unless you were playing it after the storyline. Does that work?
@LancerPilot- why would I be talking to you? I meant Yumiko. I thought maybe his problem was just that his ship was too crappy.

some did it with the rhino freighter... so what ship u toke isn't important... i had 1 time problems with winning, co'z he bumb me out off the racetrack

With IONCROSS all things are possible. It lets you mod an otherwise unmodded game. I have played the storyline with every fighter in the game. The only ones I couldn't finish the story with were the Pirhana, Startracker, Patriot, and Starflier.
